Receiving baricitinib in 2 days

I received a phone call today to tell me that I will have my baricitinib delivered on Thursday. I am eager to get started on it. I have high hopes that it will be better for me than the Simponi has been for the past 6 months.

If I can do a bit of housework and gardening and shopping, that would be great, but getting dressed in the morning with no crying would be a start. My hopes are up.

It is the first drug that has not caused me issues so I hope it goes well. I am on week 5-6 so still a few weeks to go. 🤞

Good morning ElizabethW ☀️

That's great that you can start baricitinib very soon! I've been on it since 2018 and have never had any issues with it (ok, I got shingles but it wasn't too bad!).

Before baricitinib I had been on Simponi as well and it had worked very well for me but unfortunately after about 5 years on it, I got side effects and it stopped working as well as before so I was put on baricitinib instead. I never noticed any difference, except that I've never had any side effects from it 😊

I hope very much it works as well for you!!

Good luck and have a great day,

Christine xx

I have heard of a number of people who have suffered from shingles with these meds. I have had the Shingrix vaccine, which is not a live vaccine, and is said to be very effective so i hope it protects me.

I am glad to hear that you have had good results for a long time with Simponi. For me it helped a bit for about 3 weeks of the month for the first couple of months but, in general, it has been 6 long months of pain and debilitating fatigue.

I hope you continue to do well.

Oh that's excellent - so you won't have to worry about shingles!

And thank you very much - I hope so too 😊

Good luck today!

All the best,

I've been on Baricitinib just over a year and it's given me my mobility back, I can now walk further and easier and my hands are practically pain free, so keep your hopes high Elizabeth.

🤞for you...

Baricitinib helped me, but I had a number of viral infections with it, so changed to toficitinib .... no problems.

I've found them to be 'clean' meds and easy to take.

Hi Elizabeth,

I just wanted to drop a line to let you know that I started Baricitinib last week. I know it's early days, but I simply can't believe the difference that it's made so far. My pain has certainly decreased as has my swelling. A couple of days ago I went on a two hour walk - something that I haven't been able to do for years.

Also, so far, no side effects, which is a first for me. I hope it works well for you!

Thank you. A two hour walk! It's a lot to hope for. Fingers crossed - figuratively of course; I can't cross my real fingers.

I hope you continue to enjoy the benefits.

I'm on week 4 I've not seen any great difference yet but I have deep routed abscess so I might be feeling a lot of my pain and fatigue from that to.
