Eye clinic -Uveitis

I had my appointment at Moorfields this morning. Full blown Uveitis with Cyst/ Macular Edema at the back of the eye. Luckily they decided no injection needed at this point - massive relief. Now on 3 types of eye drops to bring the inflammation down, and have to go back in 3 weeks. Thanks to everyone who replied with help and advice, much appreciated. Might still end up with the injection, but hopefully not.

What a thing to develop! I hope the drops will be very effective for you. 💐

I will be wearing sunglasses for the next 5 days, eye already sensitive and one of the drops opens up the pupil which mskes it worse in sunlight, but will give it time to settle the inflammation. What a journey it is having RA 😬😳

It's amazing what they can detect isn't it that a regular optician can't.

Really rooting for these drops to work but good you've got a back up option of injection of needed.

Stressful day I can imagine x

It was a bit, but glad I got seen within the week. It is very annoying that the Uveitis keeps coming back despite being on Maxidex. I had the cyst problem about 5 years ago, but this was different, so wasn’t expecting that.

Can imagine that was a bit of a shock then. Glad you got it seen x

Strange thing was, I didn’t have any pain or redness from this uveitis flare.just the smudging Something else to look out for next time it happens. Annoyingly I rang the uveitis clinic and they sent me to the optician as they thought it was dry eye or my cataract growing. This is the danger of telephone conversations which seems the way forward for a lot of medical issues now. Not good. At least we got there in the end.

That's good to know, hope the drops do the job and no other treatment is needed. Thanks for letting us know.

I hope all goes well Sarah. Glad you didn't have to have the injection but just remember it's not as bad as you think. x

I think it’s just the thought of it. Now a steroid injection into the hip for bursitis is one to avoid - pain wise. 😡

My daughter-in-law was terrified of having injections in her eye (which were required). I was able to go with her for the first two fortunately and held her hand and got her to do the deep breathing calming exercises we had practised and she was absolutely fine.

Good to know. Hope your daughter is ok now. My husband wasn’t allowed to stay in the clinic yesterday 😡

I had the dreaded injection into the eye but to be honest it was no where near as bad as i thought it would be but hope you will not need it.

Thank you. I am on Maxidex, Acular and cyclopentolate. I call it cyclops for short - pretty appropriate I thought 😀.

Let me know how it goes! I did not know I had any problems until I woke up one morning and it was like looking through tracing paper. So frightened I was going blind overnight but it was uveitis- never heard of it. All okay now but told to keep up with drops one a day such a small amount but makes the difference. Best of luck and get better soon🤓😎keep wearing sunglasses even indoors dr said it speeds recovery and you look so cool

It is scary when you first get it. I have been on one dose of Maxidex daily since last September, but unfortunately it’s not stopped a recurrence of a flare up 😡. Hope yours stays ok x
