My hair has gone so curly and also long due to no hair dressers. Its always been thick and curly but now when I wash it I have handfuls of hair and even more when I brush it when its wet. Its now really thin and frizzy even though I condition it.
I now have to take max dose of sufasalazine (6) for about 5 weeks after taking 4 for about a year. Nothing else except naproxen. I've also been having a flare for about 3 months and awaiting review. I'm really 😟 😟

I can only say I had extreme hair los with MTX and it was stopped. So I'd suggest you ring the RA doctors if you think its connected and if not please do call your GP for advice.
I spoke to my Rheumy about this same issue. I am not on sulpha but am on methotrexate. She said if you are not well then that causes your hair to fall out. As long as it isn't in clumps and is just random bits as you run your hands or a brush through then it is fine and should calm down over time when you start to feel better.
I've lost a lot of hair too and like you my hair has gone very dry and frizzy, it is usually thick and silky. I've started taking biotin and have been using olaplex (expensive) to see if they make any difference. Tomorrow I'm braving my first hair cut in around 9 months, hopefully getting rid of the dry frizz will make it look a bit more presentable.
Hair loss is common after serious illness (or big hormonal changes). Lots of the hair follicles stop growing at the same time and the hair falls out 8-12 weeks later. Usually with treatment of the illness the hair follicles start up again, but often with finer hair to start with.
I hope that you get your flare sorted out and under control soon.
Hair loss is quite depressing. I had considerable hair loss when I took Methatexate so my doctor put me on Leflunomide and I began using Rogaine twice a day. Thankfully my hair grew back.I take Biotin and use Naproxen shampoo and conditioner instead of the Rogaine. The process took several weeks.
