Letโs hope further research confirms this.....Dementia is such a distressing condition.Thankfully ....even at my advanced years I seem to have escaped so far...after having had 7 years on Mtx up to 2015.
As you quite rightly said, it makes a change to see a positive article on methotrexate. Watching my mum deteriorate with dementia is just terrible.
Unfortunately there was no link to the original study. From this information it is impossible to know whether it was the methotrexate, or some other factor associated with taking methotrexate.
Tongue firmly in cheek: could even be that people with Rheumatoid Disease (RD) are less likely to get dementia from this information....but then considering that it is only recently that those of with RD have lived to the age where people tend to get dementia, who knows!
Hi. I've been taking methotrexate for a couple of years now. I take 10 tablets once a week now. Have had no side effects that I know of. Having a bit of a flare up at the minute. At the start of lockdown xthey wanted to start me on injections, but decided against it with the pandemic as they didn't want to compromise my immune system any more.
