I experience this especially after my prednisone was reduced to 2.5mg a day for 3 days a week. Shoulder pain is awful. I know too much steroid is not good but hey am in agony. Still on MXT. Any advice please, sometimes I struggle to get up and get my young kids ready for school

How long have you been on mtx. It can take 12 weeks to kick in. But I would also talk to your doctor about the dosage of mtx and pred as it seems to be not keeping you controlled. I know it's a pain( oops literally) buy I'd try talk to your rheumy helpline, either it's too early for your mtx to kick or or they may change your tapering schedule of prednisolone if its too quick.

Or even suggestion like adding another dmard might be something your rheumy would suggest. So you would be best having a discussion and telling them if you pain and home difficulty at tasks good luck. Ps try hot and cold pads and over the counter brufen gels or painkillers as suggested by the pharmacist too.

It sounds as if the pred. might have been masking things. Definitely worth a call to the rheumy to let them know what's going on.

I agree. Call your Rheumy, Mtx should by now be working on it's own and since it is not, your medications need to be reviewed.

Yes sometimes there is then a bit of tooing and froing then needed with the doctor. I needed steroids a bit longer and they added another dmard so yes I still think a conversation would be helpful xxx
