Anyone know if CBD is OK to take with leflunomide and sulfasalazine? I’ve just started have a cup of CBD herb tea every day and am sleeping so much better. But a medical friend I mentioned this to said to check it was compatible.

Hi Harry-20I have been taking Sulfasalazine for over a year. Had some change in diet and it took about 3 months to work but it seems ok for me now. Best of luck with it.

We can’t advise unfortunately, we don't know your medical history or if you take any other meds that it may interact with. It can depend on which CBD you're thinking of taking too, even though it's a 'natural' product it doesn't necessarily mean safe to take with conventional meds & why you need to discuss it with the initial prescribers before starting it. I do know of a few commonly prescribed meds it's contraindicated with but not enough to give any advice. Some of those we take such as gabapentin, corticosteroids (prednisolone etc), antibiotics, NSAIDS, PPI'S (omeprazole etc), all are contraindicated, plus others.

I asked the same question when I was taking Leflunomide, but I was told that as the RA team didn't know, then I should not take it. I would say speak to your RA team.
