Well the steroid jabs would be for flares so you still flare. I dint know what they base remission on though Frank whether it just be bloods or flares x

I'm in remission and from my experience, to gauge it, they ask a lot of questions about joint pain, how well you can perform certain tasks ,as well as a physical check of your joints for swelling, pain and tenderness. This, along with the CRP is used to determine the DAS score: less than 2 is considered remission. Mine was 1.74 at my last appointment in Dec. Best to check with your rheumatology team. All the best 🐰

Yes I remember my last DAS check last year and it was around 10, thank you.

You can estimate your DAS score yourself, here

But it’s not just about blood test results, but also how you feel, and how your joints feel. And whether this is stable.

But if you feel like you are in remission then you probably are, so enjoy!

(Top score in DAS is I think 6)

I did manage 8.2 in April 2019 whilst I was waiting to start on Rituximab. Thank goodness I’m much lower now.

I’m so pleased you’re feeling better after the steroid shots and those blood results are definitely going in the right direction. As Madbunny says there are other factors to take into account and so let your Rheumy inform you if it’s remission or just low active disease.

My CRP always hovers around 1 and I’m definitely not in remission! So you can’t go on blood tests alone. A much more reliable indicator is how you and your joints feel. It may be short term relief from the steroids or it may well be remission, which ever it is enjoy it.

Hi, I’m new to this and referred myself for a CRP test today as I had one in January 2021 which was 14.2 mg/L. I also tested positive for h-pylori and was put on 14 days of meds which I completed and thought the inflammation was most likely in the gut. Surprisingly my test today revealed a CRP of 26.1 mg/L which is way over on the ranges on the lab results. Dr. Google only worries me more so a quick search for CRP on healthunlocked led me here. I don’t mean to bug u but should I be concerned about this high level?
