Hi All

I had my covid immunisation last week. Gradually over the last week my rheumatoid arthritis has been getting worse. Has anyone else had this reaction please?

I am sorry to hear this Lesley, I would let your doctor know as flaring I dont believe is a standard side effect of that vaccination but I've read that things like headache, fatigue, muscle aches are mentioned. Ask your doc to discuss it with you or check you over and they will report it using the yellow card system as appropriate. However, the other possibility could be that you were getting poorly just before your jab and its not due to the vaccine at all. For example some people get covid before their jab, the symptoms come out and the jab is under suspicion , but actually they might have already been brewing the illness ,if you see what I mean.

Whatever way round it is its horrid to flare , do chat with the doctor and I really feel sad for you, hate flaring xx

🤗 I am struggling a little more but that I think is because my meds are in the air and I am struggling anyway. I hope it settles for you ... as Allanah says say something to your gp. Mine made it clear to me he wanted to know if I had any side effects and not to take anything different without speaking to him or my rheumy. I haven’t needed to call him. I hope you’ll be ok x

Go on the Yellow card Corona19 site.... it lists reported side-effects from both vaccines we are being given at the moment.

It seems unlikely from the recorded reports so far that the two things - the injection and your worsening symptoms - are connected. The important next step is to talk to your medical team. It's most likely that your rheumatologist is the most appropriate person for treating the flare, but your GP also needs to record anything that happens following the injection. Only by doing this can we establish cause and effect.

I have just listened to a radio call in program OT. They had an “expert”..... answering questions from people who had reported side-effects - the majority reporting headache, dizziness, nausea et cetera were regarded as good symptoms as it indicated the vaccine was doing its job....It was definitely accepted that some people are getting side effects. However GPs , & 111 are not particularly interested. I have been onto both in the last two weeks trying to get my symptoms sorted and it’s a general disinterested “let’s wait and see shall we” answer from both of them.

But if you are bleeding, having a heart attack or a stroke ...111 are the ones to call- they’ve got all the right questions to ask..... but they take so long to answer, you will have passed out before they got to the end of their questionnaire!

111 called me back three times asking the same irrelevant questions.....I told them not to bother any more.

GP suggested it might be Labrynthitis...but I have had that a few times before,& it’s “different”.

I am slowly resurrecting & can stay up beyond lunchtime now...but it seems a long old process.

Completed second dose vaccine on Friday and had high fever and shivering so took paracetamol 6hrly. Some of my colleagues also experienced the same. Since today morning no more fever but started sudden joints pain so took naproxen for pain. I hope it will settle soon.

Hi Legley, I had exactly the same reaction together with fatigue, however it has now started to subside and I hope yours does too. Hang on in there and see how the week pans out.

I had my vaccine on Saturday lunchtime and by Saturday night was going into a huge flare. My hands looked like a pair of boxing gloves and my right knee was red hot and had swelled up like a football and I was in agony. I was in a terrible state. Everything has gone back to normal now, so can only think it was the vaccine.

Hi How interesting, I had my vacation Friday tea time.

Sore arm all night, but Saturday and Sunday oh my ,felt awful ,headache, aching ,but my joints ,could Barely walk on my knee.

It's now Monday and its settling a bit.

Spoken to Rheumatology, she said to wait a day or so and then take my benapali injection but not to miss it out.

So I've told her but she didnt seem concerned, should I report it to my GP

But I've spoken to a few people and they have said their joints were bad

I think it needs adding to list of side effects or at least Rheumatologist to know more about it.

Hope everyone settles down soon

Xxx

Yes yes yes ......I went on here to see if anyone else is the same as me, ....it’s like someone has stopped my biologic treatment , I’m flaring everywhere , in my feet wrists toes hands elbows head , it’s awful.....I know it has been brought on by the vaccine as before my feet hadn’t been like this since I started this treatment in 2016 , .....I haven’t even had my second jab yet
