RA. Oxford Vaccine

Just had mine this at 10.40 this morning. I was concerned (like others) that it could trigger my RA into inflammatory mode. No issues so far and am not expecting any...got to remain positive. Please get yours when invited.

I had mine on Monday and it hasn’t triggered any worse RA symptoms that I already have 🤗

this may not be the right forum to ask, but interested in knowing how you were diagnosed with RA and did you have PMR first. I believe I have RA or infammatory arthritis, started to get symptons couple mos ago, hands , fingers, heels, sometime shoulder pain, did have bloodwork done last week, for the anti ccp and RA factor, phone appt today with rheumy but don,t think she,ll have results, have reduced over last 4 1/2 yrs from 40 mg pred to now 4 mg last month or so, just wondering if your diagnosis was result of bloodwork or only symptons, and if you are taking any pred or other meds for it, thank you

[Downtime]

Had the Oxford one at 11.30 yesterday morning and felt fine. Last night I had chills then by 11pm aching joints and muscles everywhere. Couple of paracetamol but I found it hard to sleep. This morning I feel much better. It wasn’t so much an RA flare but the symptoms you get if you’ve got real flu coming on. Hopefully that will be it 🤞

I had the Oxford vaccine at 3pm & woke the next morning with a headache, feeling shivery and really painful joints, particularly in my hands. I take Benepali for my RA but my consultant advised me to skip for a week as was due to inject the Benepali the same day as having my vaccine. Had it been a different day she’d have advised to carry on as normal.I took Naproxen for my joint pain which helped.

The shivery/wiped out feeling had subsided by the 2nd day post vaccine. 🙂

Interesting...I'm on Benepali and I had to inject the same day as my vaccine. Did mine in the evening. This morning i felt fine, no sore arm or other issues. Might be due to the half bottle

of Malbac i drank, lol!

I got mine Oxford vacine done a couple of days ago all good so far and no issues with my arthritis, I'm on Methotrexate & Embrel injection, good luck everybody.

I had mine Wednesday, felt fine but Thursday/Friday I felt a bit yuk, headache, cold feet, bit achy & slight runny nose, I took paracetamol by Saturday morning all disappeared, all good. It’s the 2nd one I’m more bothered about, but the post recently put up by another member was extremely informative & explaining exactly why we feel unwell with it & it being a good thing!!

Hi, I posted the second vaccine/immunology article/link a couple of days ago and noticed then but didn’t say the article does not refer to the Oxford vaccine. It was sent to me by an American friend and they are mainly having Moderna or Pfizer at present. Presume it’s the same for most second Covid vaccines the way the immune behaves when the second vaccine enters. It did say in the article that Moderna has “three times as much genetic material” in it than Pfizer. Another FB friend in America told me she had the Moderna two days ago and felt like she had flu and now feels much better today. She’s a community Sister and quite tough. We won’t be getting Moderna anyhow here just yet. I believe my vaccine is to be Oxford.

Had my Oxford on Fri at my GP surgery and the strangest effect I had was a mad urge yesterday to clean the kitchen. Apart from that, arm a bit sore and feeling sleepy. And a feeling of relief!

Quite probably!!! I used 3/4 of a tank of petrol between March and Dec, and got the tank filled as a Xmas prez to the poor wee car! The only time I drive anywhere seems to be med appointments.I'm not complaining tho, as I live in a friendly village by the sea with plenty of soc distanced space for a daily potter.

The cleaning frenzy was also probably from the euphoria and relief of getting the jab. Or maybe Bill Gates, tho I wasn't aware that he has an ambition for world kitchen cleanliness 🙃

I'd bet that Bill Gates is very keen on clean kitchens as long as he's not the one cleaning them. I find that if my mood is low - how strange that it should have happened quite a bit in the past year! - the housework can go hang, but if something perks me up, it spreads to all sorts of things, including cleaning.

I don’t think I’ll get that urge after the vaccination, greynot 😁 but I did vacuum and wash the kitchen floor, do the bathroom and a tower of ironing today as I think I may be going for my vaccinations tomorrow or Tuesday. Done all the housework in case I feel spaced out after. Have to phone the GP admins tomorrow who are arranging it. Glad you feel relief. Also they you don’t feel too much out of sync 🙏🏼

Good morning, I had the Pfizer on Wednesday. No I’ll effects apart from a sore arm which was minimal and not really a side effect. Last night my psoriasis started to erupt. I’m diagnosed with RA and latterly with PsA. I’m wondering if the vaccine has cancelled out my Tofacitinib as it’s been working well on the psoriasis but not the joint pain which is still the same. I’m like Mrs Overall most of the time!

My Oxford one was yesterday. I had no SE at all until 2 am, bolted up in bed feeling like I was sick in the head. Meaning not stomach sort of sickness. It didn't last. then 12 hours after that I got extreme head spinning, hot, and weak. that passed after 30 minutes. Think I'm ok now.

Hi I've had my first jab in Jan ,I've not had any flares nor any major joint,body problem, but I did have for the last few weeks major headaches/migraines, I can't say they are linked,but I'm alive lol. And given the frequency of attacks . I do suspect it was a side effect, they have started to die down now! The vaccine is not repeat not live, so I believe it's safe for us, and as the saying goes prevention is better than the cure. Stay safe one and all.

I got my Oxford vaccine almost 3 weeks ago and have had no symptoms so I take it my second one with be the same.

Not necessarily, one hopes so but the 2nd jab packs a bigger punch so I'm lead to believe. Having said that, someone on here(can't recall who)commented that their GP told them SE are worse with the 1st OX/AZ, and the 2nd Pfizer jab, so who knows.
