I failed 3 dmards this year but started Erelzi / Etanercept last tuesday. I felt like i had the flu the next day with a really bad headache. Since then my feet have become very swollen again and burning which means inflammation which had gone down before my injection and my hands are more swollen with more pain. Should that happen ? My rheumy nurse said i can call her on Tuesday if i still feel ill or have pain

More pain
Hi Sammie. I too was on elerzi.started last January I use to get burning from my knees down to my feet this happened on my first injection and would last 2 days. I reported it straight away as not listed as a side effect. It continued and the burning was becoming unbearable . Unfortunately due to covid I couldn’t see a consult or my nurse as they had been redeployed . In July my nurse came back gave me steroids for 4 weeks it helped but at the end of the course it came back worse. I stopped taking the elerzi in September as the nurse was sure it was the elerzi causing the problem. I had a steroid steroid injection.. I have no burning now. My feet were so swollen and my Achilles inflamed continually I ended up on crutches. Things improved quickly walking much better. I’m now on baricitnib started 35 days ago early days. Improvement in some areas but not all.
Keep reporting these symptoms I to believe it was a side effect for me.
Thank you for replying. My burning so far has continued but i will speak to my rheumy nurse tuesday. Good look on Bartcinib
