Can anybody help me? I’ve had RA for 40+ years and managed to bring up 2 children, work and run a home despite being quite disabled. I had both knees and both hips, replaced and got divorced! Which gave me a new lease of life. In recent years I’ve acquired sjoegrens & Reynauds along with hypothyroidism but still managed. Last year the menopause hit and I had cervical decompression which was very traumatic. Since then I’m constantly tired and if I get cold and tired I get a high temperature which makes me feel so rough then after paracetamol, a sleep and lots of water i seem to recover and my temp drops. Doctors say it’s the auto immune conditions but I wondered if anyone else has anything similar? I’ve heard people say if they exert themselves they end up in bed for 2 days afterwards but never heard of temperatures
High Temperatures: Can anybody help me? I’ve had RA for... - NRAS
High Temperatures
I had a high temperature every evening when I first started with RA. They went once it was controlled with methotrexate and adalimumab.
I’ve had it over 40 years though. My inflammation markers are very high too so maybe it’s connected?! It’s such a complex disease this RA.
Hi - I do sometimes get a temp along with the cold and tiredness - usually when I have overdone things. Only tends to happen towards the end of an afternoon/ evening. My cheeks go that funny pink colour and I feel dreadful. just do as you say- take paracetamol and go to bed. Best wishes.
I only have RA which I've now had for just over 6 years and my temperature is often high, especially at night for some reason. It's just another effect of RA and settles by itself. I do Take medication but manage my condition very successfully, according to my consultant, by exercising and keeping my body fit & my joints moving. Occasionally though I do get chronic fatigue and then I rest and sleep and I'm soon back on my feet. I take my hat off to you for all you've achieved, it shows just what can be done with the right mindset. 👏👏👏
It does sound as if your disease is not well controlled. It merits a discussion with your rheumy team about your management plan!
Yes unfortunatly I did, buy it was a game of guessing was it an RA flare or an illness was always the problem x
Yes that sounds similar to me and my RA is not yet under control. Well done for being so strong day after day.
I agree with Oldtimer, you need a review. They can do it virtually (as mine will be), but at their discretion can invite for a face-to-face. It might help to write down what you want to say so's you don't miss the chance. And just a thought: you said you think you'll have another blood test. I believe you should be having them v regularly regardless. I have to go every month. You have a lot to bear, yet have achieved a great deal. Best wishes for a new chapter x
