Just wondering if anybody else on here has changed their jobs to work from home and what do you do?
Home working: Just wondering if anybody else on here... - NRAS
Home working
I do office work - various things come into my role, as it is a small company. I have R.A., O.A, Fibro and U/A thyroid. OH was/is a shielder. I was furloughed at the beginning; then I worked in a room on my own before going back into the main office; we all have at least 2m all around us, and most of us work 3 days each week, crossing over minimally. I’ve got a good boss, who is happy for me to work either at home, or in the office - I’m hoping to do a bit of both, but only going in to the office on the days when the fewest people are about! OH had planned to retire in October, but brought it forward and retired at the end of July, to avoid going back to work.
Sounds like you work for a good company, which is great.
I'm looking to make some changes, would like to find a little something to do from home and leave my current job as just to much stress.
I own a building company so I now don't go out like I used to, cleaning and checking on staff, lugging heavy materials about etc. I'm now officially office bound lol. I have a friend who was in your position and she set up a little virtual assistant business and has a few clients like me that she does things for. Spreadsheets, taking calls, replying to emails or doing some research. She's built up to about 17 clients now and earns a fortune lol!!
If your crafty then I hear mask sales are through the roof at the moment Do something you enjoy is my best advice! I love my job and when I'm having a really bad RA day I have something to get lost in. x
Thank you for that Daisy 😊
I currently sell the body shop at home which is going really well and I love it, just want a little extra something.
Thank you x
Try and be creative with your body shop stock - make up your own hampers or sets (would likely be cheaper than pre made boxes?)
I am currently using pretty jam jars and filling with mini toiletries and will put ribbon round and maybe even some cheap led lights.
You may be able to make money with going that extra mile for your clients
I work in educational technology so very fortunate - I use to be a IT consultant all my life so fortunate to always WFH. My role means no need to go in unless I decide. I am blessed and pray long it may continue.
The mention of a VA is worthwhile as Covid 19 has meant loads of people are setting up their own businesses. If you have a niche idea or product you could package that up and sell using Amazon services. Keep fit equipment and casual clothing are also big at the present ☺️ hope you find something for you. If you are thinking of changing jobs right now....so that you can work from home....do make sure you have a firm written offer of any new job before you leave your present job.
Employers are now forced by law to make workplaces safe....so If you feel unsafe in your job....speak to your boss.
New jobs are going to be hard to find....so be very careful.
