Hi all just wanted to know if anyone has experience of being on Barasitinib as my rheumy nurse phoned up and said they are trying me on this instead of Tofacitinib and it worries me why they have changed it as I felt I dont really want to take any of these because of the side effects I am already taking Methotrexate injections so feel a bit concerned so would love to hear others comments. Look forward th hearing

Hi, I’ve been on this for about 3 months now and touch wood it’s been brilliant. I was in a really really bad way before I started it. I’m gradually reducing the prednisolone now. I’m

Also on methotrexate. I’ve had no side effects from this Baracitnib....a bit of tummy ache

For the few few days. I like the fact you can stop taking it and it will be out of your system fairly quickly.

Good luck with it...you could always try it and see how you go.

Thanks Claire

It's been a godsend for me for most of the 2 years I've been on it. I thought it was losing effect recently, but it must have been a prolonged RA flare and thankfully it's normal service resumed. I did have frequent headaches for the first week or so after I started taking it. Also a lengthy sinus infection about 9 months ago, which may have been a side effect.

Good luck if you go on it..

I was on it for a while and it worked wonders for me, but i got taken of it as i have chest infections as well and now all i am on is hydroxy due to a ct scan which showed ground glass appearance on it among other things so i can't take mtx either now for a year until i get another scan.xx

Thanks for.your reply Sylvi I am sorry you had to come off it as it worked well for you so I hope you get your other problems sorted out as soon as poss and maybe they will put you back on it I wish you lots of luck x

I have said i don't want anymore biologicals i want my mtx back and sulpha i was doing ok on that until rheumy took me of it to have me on baricitinib, but it didn't quite work out like that as i had to have three mnths course of antibiotics from the hospital because it showed i had come into contact with someone who had tb. So that was months without any ra meds. Now it is going to be next year before i get any meds because of ct scan. xxx

Just on this myself. Was on humira but it stopped working after nine years. Now have trouble with my knee but after six weeks of baricitinib it seems easier. Got first blood work in a fortnight so that will show the truth. Read that baricitinib is better if you have issues with methotrexate so that is why I was put on it. Hope it goes well for us both. 💁🏻‍♀️

Me too am looking forward to some relief and hope it works well for you it's great being on this site Good Luck with it x

I am already on a Biologic along side mtx it’s not working. Spoke to nurse and they are debating 2 drugs one to be this drug she is going to speak to the consultant and get the ball rolling which ever one they decide on.I’m willing to try anything if it’s not for me then I will stop and try something else .

Hi AngelMar,

Do you take Baricitinib with another RA med for RA to be under control?

in reply toMJSlide1958

Hi, at the moment I’m taking 5mg of prednisolone, tramadol and paracetamol, as the Baracitinib not working brilliant for me. My Rhumatology Doctor has run out of meds and I’m still looking for my holy grail 🤗X

I have been on baracitinib and leflunomide for about 2 years and it's working pretty well. I'd probably do better with MTX but I can't stand the nausea . I like the fact that it is in tablet form which is much more convenient than injections. That sounds like a minor thing but it makes a big difference to me because I travel a lot for work (or did, pre Covid) and usually do a long trip in the summer. No side effects I am aware of. Best of luck.

Thanks for your reply I am looking forward to going on this Biologic and I am on the injectable Methotrexate which made me feel sick too at the start which did not happen on the tablets but I tolerated it for over 10 weeks now its ok so hopefully the Biologic will will be good as I have had lots of positive replies which is so good I wish you well and thanks again x
