Auto Immune

Had a telephone call from consultant today my white blood cells are still low. I am now having to have another blood test to check Auto Immune and also a ultra sound scan to check my spleen to see if I have arthritis there . Has anybody else had this ? If no joy I have to have a biopsy of my bone marrow . Anyone else on here had these tests ? Apart from normal arthritis pain I feel well in myself and have no other symptoms . Thanks

No, I haven't but of course RD can affect the vital organs so it stands to reason that would include the spleen. He probably suspects Felty's syndrome with your white blood cell count being low. Otherwise if your tum isn’t distended & you haven't unintentionally lost weight I’d not worry. It's not very common, in fact it's rare, so hopefully by arranging the us & bloods your Rheumy is ruling it out or at least covering all bases. The trouble is some of the symptoms mimic those of RD. I'd be interested to know how things go as I’m seropositive too so please do keep us updated.

I'm pleased you're feeling well, ts a big positive, I hope you continue to.

I have just had a phone call from my drs and I have low white blood count. Am awaiting to hear from the consultant to see if I can carry on with mtx. I think another blood test is needed though. But have to wait to see what the doctors say.

Yes I’ve had all those tests recently during lockdown. I was referred to haematologist as have had extremely low neutrophils and WBC taking various biologic drugs over last 4 years. Tocilizumab has been the worst for neutrophils but the best for RA:(( They wanted to check it was the drug causing it and nothing else going on. All the results were normal.

Do let us know how you get on. I’ve had exactly the same issue and have had to stop my Leflunomide for 2 weeks before having another blood test then deciding what to do.

Will let you know . Other than the normal arthritis pain I feel good in myself . My low blood cells have been low since I’ve started for hydroxychloroquine 😢

I've got low leucocytes at the moment but I think it's the drugs. No one seems worried. I hope your tests go well.
