Hi all. Has anyone just suddenly have a lot of teeth ... - NRAS
Hi all. Has anyone just suddenly have a lot of teeth just break and fall out.
I use to have really nice teeth. My teeth hygiene is pretty damn good since I started treatment 4 years ago I have had fillings caps root work referred to the dental hospital for major gum issues. Im normally seen ever 3 months and was due to be seen in March. I have an appointment at the end of August and it can’t be soon enough. I know I have big problems with at least 4 teeth and one tooth they have struggled with root fillings special cap in a bid to save the tooth I think it’s had it. May ask for a implant as it would be very noticeable if I loose it. Have been told all linked to RA and treatment
My two top front teeth slowly eroded from the back until they eventually broke off. Had the first one to break capped and the other extracted. Dentist did not know the cause and said I must be grinding my teeth when asleep, which I most definitely don't. Guess it must be due to meds or even my RA. My other teeth seem ok. I've always had good strong teeth.
No, not at all. Sorry I've had RA for many years but o teeth issues except the cost of the hygienist. x
No, sorry no teeth problems and I’ve had RA quite a while.
Thank you all for yr replies. All my top teeth have just fallen out. All within a few weeks 😪😪😪
No I haven’t ...yet and sorry if you have.
I read somewhere that chronic stress can cause calcium depletion and I wonder if you could be low on calcium. Do you eat plenty of dairy or take calcium supplements ?
Yep! Since diagnosis they’ve gone to pot. I say have, should be had. I now have implants. Started in November last year and finished March this year, including two bouts of sedation. Best thing I ever did.
Yes, me too. I have had a number of cusps of teeth breaking, gum shrinkage and other issues in the past few years.
My daughters teeth just keep break off as does her hair. She now has very little of both. She has been told rest of remaining gteeth n pieces need to be extracted.Nit good at all.She doesn't have RA but has had divorce stress
I've had Rheumatoid Disease for about forty years now. It is only recently that I have any trouble with my teeth breaking which I've put down to age and wear and tear, not the RD.
My teeth definitely weaker,my dentist says methotrexate does affect the teeth and gums 😫
Yep like a few others have said about their teeth, my teeth have deteriorated since diagnosis.
I've had lots of sensitivity in my teeth. Years ago I had a post crown that was infected, this may have gone on unbeknownst to me for sometime. I then read the NRAS magazine and in it there was an article showing some evidence of a connection between arthritis and mouth infections. I've been told that my teeth are weak because of the meds as well. Some of my teeth are crumbling, might be an idea to speak to your dentist or rheumatology team.
Yep ... last year I started noticing my teeth tips were eroding away. My dentist began putting on a epoxy type filler , because the inner part of my teeth were eroding faster than the outer.
I have always had strong healthy teeth, and bones, genetically, and through self care.
Autoimmune diseases were noticed 9 years ago. I am 62 and took very good care of my health. Even so ... 2 weeks ago my teeth began breaking off. I believe it is the dieseases, not the medicine. Couldn't take MTX, or Leflonamide, but I did take Prednisone for about 3 months solid in 2017. My illnesses are Psoriatic Arthritis, Asthma, Gastroparesis, and possibly ( Sarcoidosis and or Fibromyalgia ? ).
I suggest a Orthodontist and your Rheumatologist have a conversation. You are your best advocate. I had no one warn me. YOU may be able to stop this.
