Hi all, a very big thank you to all those who replied offering advice about getting treatment. I genuinely thought that no meds was a good thing on the basis that I hadn’t been told you have R.A. and need meds therefore in my naivety thought I didn’t have the disease. All your sound advice paid off. I spoke with the rheumy nurse who explained the whole treat it now basis , it’ll come one day (RF 264) so we want to prevent any erosion. So I start on low dose of hydroxychloroquine . I feel quite relieved that hopefully this will stop anything from getting worse , or I should say the journey to stop my joints from eroding . All the heat in my feet and hands and thighs is inflammation so it’s active I guess. So here we are, I never managed to dodge the blighter but at least I better understand the whole picture of treat now . Enjoy rest of your day and stay safe 😘

I bet you feel happier acceptance is a start . Yes swelling and heat are a sign of active disease . For me this heat makes swelling and sin and mobility so so so much worse. As rab said welcome to the gang x

The way I look at it, it you broke a leg you'd need a cast so you've RA and need a medication. Don't look for problems and if it doesn't work there are others. My RA consultant said treating aggressively was best, and so welcome and stay positive.x

I was prescribed Hydroxychloroquine 200mg about ten years ago for RA. I don't know what I would be without the medication but I feel I would be worst if I hadn't been prescribed it. I am not allowed to take Ibuprofen as I take several heart medication for a serious heart condition. I hope you're trying to feel positive. Keep safe and well. Best wishes.
I started on Hydroxychloroquine when I was first diagnosed with Palindromic RA in 2010 - after accidentally inhaling some rose black spot spray (Containing Bifenthrin)
It worked well for me and virtually stopped the increasingly agonising and frequent flares but I did start to get skin rashes so had to stop HCQ & prescribed Methotrexate instead which has generally worked very well for me - just need to adapt folic acid dosage so as not to get mouth ulcers - or eat lots of Marmite!! My late Mother’s cure!

Yes, don't take chances with garden chemicals, there is no doubt in my mind that's what caused my RA, and it started off with a chronic cough-related asthma and after a chest xray I was told I had a partially collapsed lung! Non smoker all my life too. 8 weeks later an acute agonising flare up which then became more and more frequent. I contacted the manufacturer but needless to say you get nowhere with them but I did report it to the Pesticides Division of the Health and Safety Executive.
Good grief! I’m shocked and so very sorry for you. This product really should have a massive Health warning on it. Take good care 😘
