Hello everyone

I'm wanting to pick your brains for my 28 year old son .originall he was due to have his 2 hip replacement at the end of nov 2019 so had to stop his imraldi and mtx in the October. Unfortunately for him his op was cancelled twice and wasn't completed until February 2020 so was able to re start his imraldi six weeks later.

Although his hips are excellent his knees however are painfully stiff which is stopping his improvement. Does anyone know how long he can expect to start seeing any improvement from his imraldi he's now taken four injections( 1 every fortnight). How can he help his knees ? Because of the covid 19 situation he hasn't been able to have any physio.has anyone else experienced anything like this? Thanks in advance

Can he call his rheumatology or orthopaedic unit for more advice ?

I am going to ring them tomorrow but I have rung them twice and although they very understanding they said the covid situation is delaying everything. I think he needs steroid injections in his knees but I don't think they will do them at the moment

If he’s only recently had his op and is waiting for physiotherapy he could do with getting in touch with the physio dept at his hospital. Hopefully he will be able to discuss his treatment with a physiotherapist,

I’ve just been put in touch with the hand clinic (long story) but in the meantime I’ve been given lots of helpful information to be going on with myself and I’ve got a telephone consultation with a hand specialist.

That would probably be better than nothing and hopefully it would keep him at the front of their minds. Physio is so important after a hip replacement- he will know that from having already had a hip replacement.

I'm not sure if they would give him steroids but I know some people who have had this treatment recently. Good luck on your call x

In my experience, after 3 THR's, physio showed me what exercises to do then left me to my own devices with a sheet of paper.

Hi when I had my 2 knees replaced,I was given the best advice and that is above all keep moving,I am sure that because I did keep moving ,even if it was only a little bit,it made my recovery easier.I know its a different op but advice will be the same from the physio for most ops .I hope he gets some relief soon x
