Just received a text from the NHS identified as very high risk and should shield. This has now been extended to the 30th June and will he reviewed after this date. I’m entitled to a shopping slot have to register . I have done so at least 8 times and rang the number over the past weeks so my holding my breathe on that one.

This now my 7th communication from doctors, Rheumatologist etc. 3 said moderate risk 4 to shield 🤷🏽‍♀️

Today is the first one I've received. I think its probably to make sure we don't increase social contact or go back to work when they make changes next week.

Great to know they’ve got you back xxx

I understand today was supposed to be the GP deadline for informing people. Terribly frustrating to have conflicting info. I am sure! Hope the shopping happens for you.

Hi i received one today and its the first thing ive heard from them its also rather late telling me 7 weeks in when ive been going out shopping. Sorry to be nosey but did your text say coronavirus service to start and then the long message? I just want to check mine isnt a fake its just ive been told nothing for 7 weeks and i rang the hospital yesterday so i could be prepared for work re opening within the next few weeks as my GP had me down as low risk and then at some point changed me to high risk but had said nothing and the nurse i spoke to said i come under high risk but its just the 2m distance i have to do like anyone without any health issues i just want to make sure so i can tell work. It said i should receive a letter so that will be proof for work i just want to check mine is the same as what other people have been getting as you can imagine not having nothing for 7 weeks to now having the txt and being told different by a nurse is very confusing haha :)

NHS Coronavirus Service: You have been identified as someone who may be at high risk of severe illness if you catch Coronavirus. You should get a letter from the NHS to confirm this. The government are advising you shield at home until 30 June unless told otherwise by a healthcare professional.

That was the first part of mine then went on to say about if i need help with shopping and at the end said to txt stop if i dont want these txts. It came from a number the message like before you open it it had like a mobile number

I received a shielding letter this morning, duly disinfected before reading, followed by immediate incineration and much washing of hands. It looks more or less like a repeat of the last one, but is from the Chief Medical Officer of Wales this time and not rheumatology dept like the last shielding letter. Unlike J1's text, from NHS England I presume, I'm being advised to carry on self isolating until June 15. Hmm, so it seems like the Welsh gov have something different in mind to England. I dread the thought! :-O

Also had a letter from the DWP saying that because I have reached State Pension age my PIP award is for an ongoing period and has no end date. So it looks as if I don't need to go for any more reassessments, which is fine by me. :-) They will review how much help I need 10 years after my PIP was last awarded, which will be in 2027.

Nice to get some good news for a change. :-)

in reply to wishbone

👍 to the Pip very sensible waste of money these reviews unless there’s a miracle we are not going to get better

That is good re PIP! I was awarded mine in Nov 2017 and got my SP in July 2018 but no letter like that yet.

I wonder if it makes a difference if someone reaches SP age before or after they were awarded PIP, be it for their first successful claim, or a reassessment as was the case with my last award in Sept 2017 when I had already reached SP age? I have no idea, but I won't be surprised if the government have thrown a fly or two in the ointment.

People of SP age are not permitted to apply for PIP. You have to be under 65 when making your first claim.

I got the text today too, June 30th sounds a long way off. I have to admit it's given me a bit of a wobbly day. I consoled myself by making scones and sharing with my lovely neighbours who are fetching me bits and bobs I can't get on my food delivery.

in reply to rounder

In the text there is a link where you can get on the online shopping list. I have hope this gets me a slot

I registered with that a few weeks ago, it out me on the priority lists for ASDA and Sainsbury, but it took a few weeks to come through. It certainly makes life simpler when you know good is coming regularly. ASDA have me a free priority pass with a weekly recurring slot which is perfect.

Hi just wondering why you get these texts and letters. Is it due to the type of medication you are on (such as a Biologic) or is it due to your condition. We have nothing like that in Australia and I am interested. I hope you are all safe and as well as can be. I realise what a terrible time you are having over there with Corona.

in reply to Susie-Q

Hi susie . It’s complicated and goals posts keep moving.

I’m on elerzi ( entanercept) and methotrexate. 2 immunosuppressants which put me in the very high risk/ vulnerable group and have been told to shield. Also in this group is people using steroids for a certain length of time. 1 immunosuppressants is classed as low/ moderate risk but some people have had this changes to high risk. If have other problems eg heart , high blood pressure, diabetes in this group then you are vulnerable and need to shield. .... told you it’s complicated 🙄 even the medics are confused .

Corona virus is very serious here but unfortunately lockdown isn’t taken seriously by many and not enforced enough so it will be on going for the foreseeable future.

Thanks for your good wishes. Stay safe

Thanks J1707! Wow you are right. It certainly seems complicated. No wonder you all check with each other as to what is happening. I do hope they start taking things seriously about lockdown and COVID-19. How many poor people have to succumb to it for them to get it??? Take care and stay in if you can x
