Pain in ribs

Hi all. To those of you that responded. I had a blood test and my liver ALT was at 99 and cholesterol at 6.2 so suggests pain due to a gall bladder issue. I have stopped alcohol and almost fat free diet and the pain is now minimal. Very mild discomfort occasionally. I’m to have a scan for which I await an appointment. As routine/non urgent operations have been postponed, my fingers are crossed for speedy treatment.

I want to add to this that I got married 4 years ago to “a feeder”. Since then I’ve put on 3 stone. I was drinking too much. A glass of wine is 3 units as I pour them. 2 glasses a day is 42 units in a week. 14 is safe. Take away food twice a week. No proper exercise. I’d be busy. Cooking, cleaning, shopping e.t.c. but nothing to get my heart going.

This has been a wake up call for me. My husband doesn’t get it. Thinks my attitude is commendable. Still offers lovely sandwiches with LURPAK!. A biscuit perhaps?. Wonders how long this is going to go on for. It’s very odd. He holds a high paid senior position. I thought only intelligent people got to that level. I have a battle on my hands with him. 🥴

So after all my going on. GP specified no alcohol related liver damage so I’ve got away with that one.

Keep an eye on your cholesterol dear friends. It can lead to problems.

Thanks for your previous support. 👍 sun’s out again. 🌞

My Sis has a similar sort of battle with her OH - equally intelligent man but doesn’t get it. Sadly he is now over 70, and she’s been trying for many years without success. So love him as he is, and don’t expect miracles. Perhaps a bullet point list of simple food rules on the fridge?

That’s one good thing about RA, it’s brought my alcohol levels right down and it isn’t even a struggle! Enjoy life and keep working on your OH.

I used to enjoy my wine and the odd G + T. I always kept to around the 14 units per week, but RD completely knocked my taste for alcohol. I'm t total now and don't miss it at all, it is strange how we change.

I wish you well.

Thank you for coming back. Yes, it hasn’t bothered me not to have a glass of wine but I do fancy a beer in the sunny back garden. I had a couple of sips of OH’s. Not really bothered thank goodness.

Becks blue (lager) is 0% and Ghost ship 0.5% (Beer) are both quite good especially cold 🥶

I have taken to 0% beer quite happily. There are lots available now so try them out to find a brand you like.

Yes, I must get a selection in. I’ve tried the low alcohol wine. Not to my taste.

I’ve found a 0% sparkling wine that actually tastes quite good....and not like sparkling grape juice but more a semi-sweet champagne. Keep looking at what's available near you as you never know you might find something.

Sounds great. You’re not in the UK are you?. Got a name for it please.

It’s Laurent Truffer Muscat sans alcool, but not sure you can get it in UK. Closest seems to be wine shop in Calais...

Thank you so much. I actually have friends that drive a few times to Tours. They can test it and bring me a few cases. We have the same taste. Much appreciated.

You have got away with no liver damage ......for now ..... as you say you have had your wake up call.

Like a lot of men your husband equates providing copious quantities of lovely food with being loving & generous.

Time to have the big discussion & tell him from now on you are going to have to concentrate on your wellbeing.....By eating & drinking less alcohol,

You have freedom of choice .....stick to the diet you want to eat and hopefully you won’t need to have your gallbladder removed!

With a bit of luck - telling him that & starting to sigh over jewellery shop windows just might make him shower you with jewels rather than LURPAK?

Not what you're looking for?
