Anxiety and the effect on our health

I am not in any way medically qualified but do have, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis RA, (positive) kidney disease (through injury) and Cylindrical Bronchiectasis a lung condition I was born with. But in reality I'm healthy so the idea of that b---y virus getting me is not my idea of positive thinking. Anyway today having decided I'm going to be careful but stay sane I was pleased to get an email from the Kidney Patient Org with a leaflet about the virus. Its obviously not relevant in any way to people with RA in one sense as it is talking to people who do take immune suppression medications in large doses to prevent organ rejection however it does go a bit further in talking about the negative impact on my mental health if I was to just concentrate my energies on the negative. So anyone who like to read the leaflet it can be found on the Kidney Patients website under Corona virus information. (Sorry I don't know how to link).

It is just my own observation that I'm not ready to stop living my life but will take all sensible precautions in line with the informed advice and its also great that both the NRAS and KPA do agree on the way forward for those of us who do have medical conditions and so it is my view that I'm going to stay positive, and take up a new hobby. So after the Breaking Bad adventure I'm ordering some pencils from Amazon and see if I can draw, my husband having said no to any more chemicals in the house !

I forget to add have an RA appointment for January 2021 so the local RA team must think I'll be around then. lol I work on the principle I'm not going to cry about something I can't change.

That is so the right idea ML! Positive thinking not idle gossip!

Let’s stop dwelling on all the negativity being spread around & concentrate on keeping our own mindsets positive, & discourage all the imagined horrors & hearsay that are coming out of the woodwork.

We should only log on to the Gov.uk & Nhs.co.uk & read any public information sites that are telling the truth.

So no more ‘my friend who knows said’ Please......we have enough to worry about without reading fiction on the subject.

And what about our pets no way am I going into a hotel to isolate being in a high risk x3 groups and leave the cat here. Bloody thing will destroy the carpets, blinds, curtains and create chaos out of spite and I so love her. lol

Love the positive approach to some ‘me time’. There are loads of YouTube videos re sketching. I’ve got decking oil and wood paint so a bit of light DIY will keep me busy if it comes to being home. Loads of books to be read before demoted to toilet paper use and some mindfulness colouring can be done.... This self isolating thing could become a ‘home Wellbeing retreat’ rather than an imposed restriction if approached right. Bring on the warm chocolate face mask - or do I just skip that part of my retreat and go straight for munching the whole bar washed down with a little red wine!!?

Ali_h I love that ! and the government should rename it Home Wellbeing Retreat, so much nicer. I'd scoff the bar and drink the wine. x

I would love to see the government try to make some of the elders I know self isolate. They'd get a broom up their bottom!

Realistically there is no way this will work anyway. Fine if you can do that. If you have the money and the capacity to shop on line, and if you have folks to look in on you and pick up the odd bit of shopping. For some folks getting out to the shops is the highlight of their day. The lady at the post office or check out might have been the only person they've seen for days!

Your right and I like shopping especially John Lewis and not too keen on M&S these days but Monsoon might have a share price drop if I can't get to Bluewater this week I also like Reiss and Apricot too.
