Hi all
Just a quick message to make you aware that we deleted a post today about coronavirus. The post was copied from a Facebook post, which claimed to be from 'Stanford Hospital Board'.
Sadly, there are people out there with time on their hands who will create posts just to see how many people they can get to share, re-post etc and this was one such post. The person who then posted it on this forum did so with good intentions of course.
If you are going to copy information from other sources to share on this site, please do your best to use trusted sources. If the information claims to have come from a trusted source, but isn't being posted by them, look the source up so that you can post the original.
For those who use social media sites such as Facebook, you can help too. If a friend posts something that you're not sure about, take a moment to Google it. If you find that it is a hoax, comment to inform the friend (and any of their friends who might see it and share it) and suggest to them that they remove the post, to help stop these hoax messages from being forwarded on.
It's sad that we live in a world where it is necessary to do these sense checks on what we see in our social media feeds, but unfortunately it only takes a few trouble makers to spread incorrect information.
Here is the NHS info on COVID-19:
