Pain, pain, pain

So just when I need to be at my best I fall apart! Hubby in hospital having had a knee replacement and I was determined to stay well and look after him for a change. However an awful flare up (they think vasculitis not RA) is doing its best to scupper those plans. Apart from constant pain in feet and fingers, my wrists and shoulders are agony if I lift or move anything heavier than a half filled kettle. I was determined to get out and get some Christmas treats yesterday but oh boy am I paying for it today.

Been awake with terrible shoulder pain since 4am. Painkillers and hot pad will hopefully improve it by this afternoon but it so horrible to be this ‘delicate’ :( :(

Hi Bizzie I am at stupid o'clock in the same boat as you. Seem to have spent every minute of the last three weeks cleaning the house. Now

I've only got three days left for shopping, and hands feet knees and shoulders don't want to move. A couple of pain killers and back to bed for an hour or two might help us both.

Yep that’s exactly where I am. I bed with a hot pad and a cup of tea that I managed to hobble out and make!

I hope you get your shopping done. Have you thought about ordering online? It didn’t occur to me cos I always think I can do what I need to do. I usually can but I pay for it dearly afterwards. You’d think after 5 years I would have learned!

I’m the same think I would know by now 🙄🙄

I'm sorry to hear this Bizzie.

I'm awake too, drove to my daughters last night to stay over and help with my grandson today. I'm beginning to flare. I'd been so well for nearly a week too.

As you say it's awful being so 'delicate'. Its just not like me at all pre RD.

I hope your husband is ok.

Thanks Mmrr. He’s had a bit of a blip with the wound and his blood pressure so may be in a bit longer than we thought but that will hopefully give me time to recover too.

Hope you get your flare under control quickly.

Hi. You have a lot to contend with. Hope your oh is ok and you settle soon. Can you do some click and collect shopping to help, don't think shops would have time to get things delivered now. Take care. X

Ps been awake for ages and I try not to look at fone but did after a long while. Hope you all are asleep now.

I think you’re right about deliveries Ruth but I think I have enough in.

I managed to get the pain under control for a short nap but it didn’t last long.

Time to take more painkillers!

Oh flip. As long as you can pace yourself. I'm just about done now. Baking for friends present today. They lost their only daughter this time last year and I baked as what the heck you buy in that situation. She asked me to do it again. (I have to use all in one method in machine now). Then organise oh tomorrow to peel veg. It's hard when you can't do it all as before, but I'm learning.

I do wish you all the best. Rest rest rest as you can. X

Thanks Deeb. I think I have enough and oh is home now. Not actually making it easier but we don’t even have to get dressed for the next couple of days if we don’t want to.

You could try DiMethylSulfoxide - DMSO- paste for topical use. You can find it on the NCBI PubMed website with some studies.

Thank you bear4able. It turned out I was starting a flare of RA and vasculitis. Made the next couple of weeks very difficult but thankfully I have a very responsive RA team.

I’ll remember your suggestion though for the future.

We always recommend that you check with your medical team before taking or using any over the counter medications to ensure that there are no contra indications with your prescribed medications.
