Knuckle Replacement for arthritis sufferer

Has anyone had knuckle replacement recently? My husband has arthritis and is due to have 3 replacements tomorrow. Interested to know recovery time and if reduced from 7 years ago when most other posts seem to have been done

If you put knuckle into the search box and filter it for NRAS then more recent results than 7 years come up. You do have to wade through all knuckle posts but I found some 😊

I've had both sets done. I must say I found it unusual to be having 3 as most surgeons seem to prefer to do all 4 at once.

Anyway, I've been please with the alignment of the fingers but the middle finger on each hand can't be straightened because the tendons have shredded over the joint. I do still get some swelling and pain because the RA attacks the tendons and the surrounding tissue. Problem is its not easy to protect these joints and have a thing like a normal life.

I had a local both times and the pain levels were OK. Need to work hard on the physio for a good outcome.

I've had 3knuckles on my rt hand replaced and tendon of middle finger realigned ,knuckles still ok after 3yrs but middle finger drifting to right again. Make sure the exercises the hand physio gives you are done religiously and use the hand splint to protect them. Hope he gets on ok .x
