Each to their own I think but I am on 14 mgs of Prednisone and I drink wine every night ..no negative affects in blood work and it really is such a wonderful end to the day

Small pleasures are so important with this vile disease so enjoy it.

I love my red wine🍷 too. Had champagne 🥂 and red wine🍷 🍷 on Saturday evening and no obvious ill effects the next morning. Hope my liver is coping ok ...!

Prednisone doesn't stress the liver the same way methotrexate does, so drinking a moderate amount of alcohol is not contra-indicated. With MTX it’s different so worth taking extra care.

I didn’t drink at all for about 6 weeks when I first started MTX. Then I had one or two units a week, and kept at that until my next blood text which was fine. So then I went to about 4 or 5 units, and again waited until next blood test was ok. These days I just stick to being below the maximum of 14 units, and seems ok for me.

But we are each different and some people may be much more sensitive than others, so it is sensible to drink with extreme caution until you are sure.

Love the wine.......But do try to kick the Prednisolone.

Read through some of the posts on here how people wish they had not stayed on it for so long they have a real struggle to get off it.

I wish I could but, sadly, it's not possible at the moment. 😢

I didn’t mean straightaway...but don’t just relax into relying on it....keep pushing for your meds to be tweaked so that you can start reducing.
