Does hydrotherapy help?
It helped me a lot.....so much easier to move stiff limbs in warm water. And I found the physios were so skillful. I would love another shot!!
Good luck, hope you enjoy it!
Thank you, I’ve been to the pool before-recovering from a broken back!
I love being in the warm water, it's soothing and relaxing and eases the stiffness. You might be quite tired afterwards, but I found it helps me sleep too.
I can recommend hydrotherapy, in my experience it was helpful for my situation. Just a word of warning, take things slowly in the pool and be guided by the physios. As being in the water it may make you feel like you can do more. Be careful though as once you are back on 'terra firma', doing too much can make the joints hurt more. A bit like going to the gym or an aerobic class and overdoing it. So build up little by little to make sure you benefit from being in the water. Again it can feel quite tiring after but go with it and rest if you need to and keep hydrated with plenty of fluids I was told. Hope it will be of help and benefit your stiffness. Best Wishes
🤞thanks
I loved having hydrotherapy and it eased my stiffness. However, it did make my restless legs worse on the evenings and nights when I had been in the pool. It is surprising just how tired it makes you so like others have said, don't go doing too much at first. You are lucky to have a pool at your hospital. We don't have one in ours and I had to go to another town to be able to go in one and was only allowed six sessions.
I am 68 and have never learnt to drive but even if I had done so, I know that I wouldn't be able to manage it now. I can only walk a few yards so I am in a wheelchair or a mobility scooter, although just recently I can't even operate my scooter due to pain in my shoulder and arm. I feel a bit fed-up with it all at present as you can imagine.
How horrible for you,I do hope you have someone helping you? I very much enjoyed my first go this morning-luckily the lady physio remembered me! So catching-up on both our lives was lovely, her husband died 9 years ago, same as mine.next time on Thursday.I may have a nap this afternoon! If,of course I can tear myself away from the telly!
Please keep as well as possible,we are survivors,in mind, even if our bodies let us down
Sounds like heaven, how did you access it ? GP? 💐
