Storing methotrexate in this heat.

Hi can anyone advise re storing MXT in this weather please. I knew it was ok upto 25c but then yesterday when the coolest room in the house reached 27c I put it in the fridge until this evening. Have I ruined it? It says store between 15 and 25c (I know I should have read it properly but didnt). How do I do that at the moment - any ideas appreciated. As I say I'm worried I may have ruined the efficacy of the packs I put in the fridge - all 4 of my stock 🤦‍♀️ Thanks.

I don’t know the answer but I too don’t know what to do. I put mine in a coolish cupboard inside a metal saucepan fingers crossed 🤞 they are ok but I’ve no idea.

I just kept mine in a cupboard. I figured it’d probably be ok. My fridge is really cold for some reason, think I need to adjust the settings, so I was worried about it in there.

Coolest place in the house is 29+degrees. Mtx is in the fridge and will be getting back to reasonable temp before being injected. No perfect answer is there? Tablets in insulated bag, but that doesn't stay cold long,... Ooh err

Why didn’t you ask your pharmacist...or even call 111...?

I would definitely ask before I used it !

I will now! Fingers crossed it'll be fine. Thanks

You put it in the fridge. And take it out with enough time to get to room temperature. There’s often quite a difference between top and bottom shelf of fridge, so check which works best.

Here’s a link to an old post from NRAS about this

Well wish I'd looked here before last nights disaster!

I put mine in the fridge as it was way over 25C unusual for here (Scotland's west coastal area). Anyhow I took it out didn't realise it had to be room temp to inject - injected waited the usual time and pullet it out and only then did it start to thaw! It squirted all along my thumb!

Phoned my GP -whilst running it under cold water- to be told if it burns red go to A&E.

Got off the phone and checked online -where it advised 10 minutes under running water and lots of soap and water to clean the area gently!

Thankfully it's only left a faint line and a wee blister so I'm fine! Feel silly but fine! M x

Aw no that's something I would do too! But if you don't know, you don't know! Glad you are ok

On my methotrexate metajet box it says below 30c,so mine was in a cupboard in the coolest room ,

So confusing isn't it mine is definitely 25c but it sounds like some time in the fridge won't hurt ad long as it's out for a while before injection. Thanks

I always put mine in the fridge when the temp rises. And remember it may be say 24 degrees outside but it will be warmer in your cupboard.
