See Doc and now confused

Me again.Ok saw one of the locum Docs as an urgent appointment, asked him to look at my blood results as I could not take it all in last time when told I had RA.

CCP is at 75 and I am sero-positive.

Told him I am really feeling yuk with fever joints left right and centre, hot and painful and I don't feel that my OA meds working, what can we do and asked about oral steroids.

Straight away no to steroids as these are being seen as causing more issues than the RA.......wait ill I see Consultant. Explained could be 3-6months.

So now on co co-codamol and eczema cream for sore hands and keep taking what I am on already but come off Nefopam as co-codamol..

I said to him I have a feeling I will be back soon with a wry smile as already done codamol route...

Now laying back on easy chair knackered. Luckily I just walked into house to a hug!

For heaven's sake! Sure long term use of steroids is bad, but a short course to help you stay on your feet while you wait and wait and wait for a specialist appointment is only humane! Or what about a decent anti-inflammatory? I stick pins in your doctor and perhaps one day he experience this unrelenting pain and realise that he made patients suffer.

Helixhelix says it all. Don't leave the GP without something to help you whilst you wait.

Mmm that’s about right with my experience with GPS. It’s always a fight 😞

It's infuriating that still so many GPs seem to regard steroids as something to be avoided. It is lack of information about the risks and benefits.

I was just so glad to see a recently qualified GP recently who, after hearing my story and looking at my notes and said "I think a short burst of extra steroid is needed here." After having had battles in the past, I could have hugged him (if it hadn't hurt so much).

OMG if GP’s could only experience a day in the life of someone with these rotten disease they wouldn’t sit on the fence so much. I have stopped seeing my GP any of them in the practice because I begged to have my painkiller patch dose to be increased short term after a very bad flare and was refused twice they then gave me another med which made me so dizzy I fell over and hurt my back. Back to the GP’s and they still didn’t want to do it but I stuck to my guns and said I was going to make a complaint. Finally got what I wanted and I only used them for two weeks. Whereas I was in agony for a month before. Grrrr.

I just need to see my regular Doc as he has been so good with hubby and as soon as he knew I had RA he looked at hubby and said we need to fix you as Dee will need your support.
