OA or RA? Lower or upper legs? I have swelling in the thigh, right side, mainly because my knee is in need of replacement..
Oh I hope you all the best if you need knee replacement. I just started wearing compression stocking and I find them helping
I have OA in my right thigh and my back of my knee is tight and swelling after a half an hour when I'm on it.
I see the specialist this Monday and I'll be looking for some answers.
Saw knee clinic a couple of weeks ago and the physiotheratist doesn't think I need a replacement yet but gave me some exercises and it is helping.
I'll let you know the outcome.
Hi pinky if you have arthritis has your GP or consultant not give you anything for this yet?
Do you have rheumatoid arthritis ?
No so far so good and hope that does turn up later.
How about you More?
I'm glad you are getting some relief from the comprrssion socks. This site is primarily for people with Rheumatoid Disease, many of us do also have osteoarthritis, but our main issues are the systemic and medication problems assocuated with RD and of course the synovitis of RD.
Have you tried the osteoarthritis site on health unlocked? You may find more relevant discussions there ?
Best Wishes.
Hi Pinky246,
I am so sorry you are having this issue. Mine do the same thing. My legs swell from the knees to my feet. I have RA in every joint and it’s starting to effect my organs. I have been putting my feet and legs up everyday and I made sure to go to the health food store bought a water balance supplement. It has some anti-inflammatory in it and I cut out all sugar, low sodium intake, and cut down on the carbs. It works slow but helps some. I hope you feel better soon.
Thanks for your comments and I hope you all the best. So far all I have osteoarthritis and hoping nothing else turns up
I have the same issue. The slightest activity and my feet swell up. I’ve been in Brussels these past few days and I’ve noticed them burning then swelling. This is with me pacing myself. I’ve just always thought it’s part of the whole shindig!
Oh, I hope things will go well for you. So what do you take for the swelling, if you don't mind me asking.
Can someone tell me where are the golden years.
I just started wearing compression stocking and that seems to help.
Do the doctors know why?
I see a specialist this coming Monday and I'm hoping to get some answers. I'm pretty sure I won't be getting a knee replacement as the physiotheratist was pretty sure of that. Both me and my Doctor don't want the surgery. As she says keep your own parts as long as you can.
I'll let you know once I get the answer about the swelling.
You need to get some compression hosiery . Please elevate your legs is you can . As we age and become less active we are prone to dependant oedema. Some of your meds maybe causing retention . Would recommend a Doppler before you wear them but class 1 should be ok but check with your GP first 🌷
Thanks for your comments. I start last week wearing compression stockings👍👍
Important to moisturise those pins and feet if you can before bed is good . You'll notice the difference honestly . A silly point in France all public workers such as nurses and police officers are given support hosiery as part of their uniform and to give legs etc the support they deserve . This also apparently applies to pregnant women . Anyhow wishing you skinny legs soon 🤗🌷
