An added complication!!!

Good morning everyone. I hope everyone i coping as well as they can. I don’t post very often but catch up every day. I have RD, PMR, Asthma and Diabetes’s T2 to name a few. I have had no RD meds for a year now because of infections and stomach problems and they cannot seem to find one that will not cause me any more problems with the stomach. I have had numerous tests and endoscopes and they have said what they think the problem is BUT we need you to have Manomtry test and a 24 hour PH Manomtry test to confirm. I was sent an appointment at a hospital an hour and a half’s drive away. Thankfully my daughter had a day off work and drove me. Apparently this was closest hospital that did this test. Well in I went and things were explained. I told them the tube could not on go through the right nostril but they didn’t listen to that. That failed. They then proceeded to go through the left and the pain was excruciating. I asked them to stop but they said ‘one more try’. By now I am in tears. Eventually they got the tube passed my throat and into the oesophagus but could not get through the LES (Lower Oesophagus Sphincter) and after 3 attempts decided to give up. Now they have to remove the tube and yes, it’s was as painful as trying to get it in and it took 2 of them to get it out. I know I have gone on a bit but wondered if anyone had had this test and how you found it.

A friend of mine put a stop to the procedure as he found it too painful to continue. I think the test was something to do with a stomach problem he was having.

I hope you are on the mend after what sounds like a traumatic experience. Drs cannot control everything and sometimes things don't to plan , but to hear that your information that your right nostril was impassable being ignored really gets to me. This forum has regular stories of medics just not listening to patients. I don't know what it is with them, but any information given is often disregarded. Is it power, arrogance, archaic views of themselves, I cannot work it out, but it is sadly pervasive throughout the profession.

I recently had a pituitary MRI, the technician wanted to put the IV canula into my deformed arthritic THUMB, I had no say no several times and remove my hand from his grasp, why not try the viens in my arms first ? No problem.
