Dear All

I thought I would share with you the details of our next webinar taking place on Tuesday 14th May 2019 at 7pm (UK time). Details are as follows:

'Foot problems and foot health care for people with rheumatoid arthritis' by Professor Anthony Redmond.

Most people with RA are likely have some problems with their feet at some point and indeed, for about a quarter of people with RA, the feet is where they first notice symptoms. Modern therapies such DMARDs and biologics have made a huge difference to the overall picture of RA, but in areas of the body that experience high mechanical loads (such as the feet), even minor damage to the joints can have a significant effect on function and overall quality of life. The feet are very complex structures and so treatments are not always straightforward or successful. In this webinar we talk through what can go wrong, what we think can be done about it and where to go to get help if you need it.

The expert speaker for this webinar will be Professor Anthony Redmond who is Professor of Clinical Biomechanics at the Leeds Institute for Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Medicine. He is a podiatrist by clinical background and at Leeds has developed one of the most significant foot and ankle research groups in the world. Working alongside rheumatologists, other allied professionals, radiologists and surgeons he has twenty or so years of experience of the inter-relationships between mechanical and biological processes that are fairly typical of RA. He has also long been involved in trying to improve foot health services generally within the rheumatology community.

Looking forward to this webinar. My ankles are a bigger problem for me than my feet at the moment so I hope Professor Redmond will include advice on ankles too.
