Methotrexate

Hi. I have just started back on methotrexate after a 2 month break due to dizziness and shortness of breath. Tests and bloods are all fine. I'm taking 20mg. I have started to feel breathless again. HasThis happened to anyone???

If it's affecting your breathing again you really should report it to your team, especially since you've experienced it before & the decision was to halt it. We all know that MTX can affect the lungs, it's listed in the PIL, so phone your Rheumy helpline, seek advice. It could be they'll recommend halting it again or reducing your dose to see if that eases your breathing but only they can advise medically.

Lyns62 isn’t flaring pd188, she’s got shortness of breath.

I’m on 17.5 mg and ok but everyone is different. I would flag it straight away to your rhuemy doctor or team and take their advice. Good luck x

Hi Lyns64, how are you getting on now?

I have stopped due to similar side effects, did they come back when you restarted?

Hi. The shortness of breath stopped after about 4 weeks but also had a ferritin infusion as I have low ferritin so all is good now. I have been prescribed Sulfasalazine. They give me a really upset stomach and diarrhoea but it should all settle soon. Hope you get better x
