Hey you fabulous people.
Well another appointment with consultant who I’ve been under for about a year now.
After being told that I was virtually untreatable by other consultants in the past and one who said my RA was all in my mind lol, I’ve been seeing a new consultant who is absolutely amazing I’ve had a few glitches but he started me on Olumiant 2mg at the end of last year had to stop for a while due to an issue with prophylactic antibiotic cover which didn’t suit me at all. The reason for antibiotics is that I basically have no immune system so need cover to stop me having every infection in the book. Well treatment is going really well for the 1st time in about 8 years the swelling in my body has reduced dramatically I am having low dose steroids occasionally until the Olumiant really gets to the bits that zero treatment for years has left me with. I’m feeling so much better I can’t tell you how good it is to have utter faith in a doc who has my health and well-being as his priority.
Looks like after another 8 weeks of keeping well (fingers crossed) that Olumiant may be increased to 4mg and Fentanyl patches which seemed to be increasing because I was in such a bad way will be a thing of the past and so will the walking stick and maybe no need for odd courses of steroids either.
What I’m trying to say is I know because of previous cancer and zero immune system that I’m difficult to treat but I now believe that it’s possible for everyone with this rotten disease to be given a lifeline and hope of possible remission. Basically if a fab consultant has found a solution for me there’s hope for so many that they can achieve the same..
Here’s hoping everyone is coping ok atm.
