I’m 8 weeks post partial knee replacement really don’t understand why I didnt have a full knee replacement as I have Ra and had a full on my other knee my question is I don’t know how to recover from this I’m doing my exercises which really hurts but don’t seem to be getting any better, I’ve not had it easy as I had an infection a week after the op and was very poorly then I fell after 4 weeks as my consultant told me I should be walking without my crutches,. My question is how long did it take before you were able to walk without a limp..... I have to get back to work but they won’t allow me back until I’m walking properly 😩

Knee replacement
I can’t help about the partial replacement- it sounds as though you’ve had a hard time. But don’t go faster with exercise than is in your comfort zone. I had full replacements on both knees and even now, 2-3 years later I’m still making small improvements. It’s difficult if you have to get back to work I’m sure.
From a non medical expert point of view I’d say it’s all very well your surgeon saying ‘you ought to be walking without crutches’. If you don’t feel confident in doing that then go by how you feel and I think falling wouldn’t have done you any good at all.
My husband had a hip replacement over a year ago and I (well I master minded his pre and post operative care!) found the advice on this site really helpful bonesmart.org it’s a bit like this site.
I also fixed him up with some physiotherapy from my Pilates teacher who is a physiotherapist. It wasn’t for his joint, that didn’t need it but he had walked badly for so long and was totally unaware of it that he needed his body straighten8ng up.
Hi hun I’m going in for a full knee replacement in June I do hope you get better soon I must say I’m dreading mine though all the best 👍
