Hi. My feet and ankles are the brunt of my RA - they feel like there on fire 🔥. I have to stretch, relax too. Can't overdo on exercise. This helps until they can find a way to control this wretched inflammation as I have failed most biologics. Also, find a supportive boot and shoe. When at home I walk (or hop 😌) barefoot around the home. Trying to strengthen the Tibula tendon that's being damaged by RA. Do take it easy as it's awful not being able to get down stairs. I need to travel to work too.... All the best, wishing you well.

Hi Yes I think it is all the inflammation going on with RA and it seems it is all trial and error with the med as I have tried biologics but just end up with continual infections so just taking methotrexate prednisolone and nsaids just wish something would work without side effects anyway I am going to try a podiatrist to see what they suggest and go from there. I wish you luck and thanks for replying

Thanks Hessie sorry for late reply, my ankle seems to have settled down a bit but I am sorry to hear of your mobility I now know how frustrating it is not to get about and to top it all my dog has had a knee op so both of us are feeling sorry for ourselves, anyway will keep on with exercises with plastic band for ankle think it mught be doing something, Good Luck to you. 14penny

That's a good sign, sleeker ankles. Well mine vary according to what I've been doing. On the rare occasion I iron & don't use my perching stool (which I don't find easy) I can't see my ankles. Can't at the mo either because I've been weeding. If I put my feet up they do go down a bit but generally because of the stuff going on (disease activity) they're like this healthunlocked.com/nras/pos...

Are you prescribed an NSAID at all? I'm on the two you mention & just had mine stopped (which could be adding to my current probs) but if you have one it might help?

Hi thanks for your reply I havnt been on here for ages as am fed up with trying to work out what is best to do but my weaker ( not sleaker) ankles are responding to exercises with the rubber band given by therapist so that is good news also I find taking 500 Naproxin in the morning and again at night helps. Hope you doing well and good luck 14penny

Have you thought about seeing a podiatrist? (The first podiatrist I saw was useless as she had not read my notes and gave me a lecture about the damage done by high heels!)

But the second one was excellent and helped a lot with custom made supports, advised on footwear (I had to take in all my shoes for her to inspect!) and eventually advised me about orthopaedic treatment.

Which was marvellous and gave me about another six years before now when I'm running into problems again.

Thanks.

podiatrist is something I have not tried yet but it sounds hopeful and I will certainly give it a go . Thanks again and good luck !
