Methotrexate syringe and Benepali

I’m going on a flight next week and am looking for an insulated pouch to put the Benepali in. Can I also store the Methotrexate in the same bag or does it have to be in another container? Or perhaps there’s a bag I could use for both with different compartments? Any suggestions please

Hiya Fulcher, welcome. Unless you're going somewhere really hot MTX doesn't need to be in an insulated pouch. It can take anything from 2°C to 24°C though when I lived abroad I didn't cool mine even in mid summer. It was in a drawer in the coolest part of the house but I never had a problem. Can you not keep it separate from the Benepali just in it's box? The Benepali should be stored between 2°C & 8°C but I believe it can be kept up to 4 weeks under 25°C without refrigerating but you mustn't refrigerate any you might not use after that 4 weeks, they have to be discarded. If you do prefer to keep it cool the Molly Mojo brand are a good brand mollymojo.co.uk/catalogsear...

If you're going on your hols I hope you have a nice time.

As nomoreheels already said, but this is from the benepali info confirming.

“Benepali may be stored outside of the refrigerator at temperatures up to a maximum of 25°C for a single period of up to four weeks; after which, it should not be refrigerated again. Benepali should be discarded if not used within four weeks after removal from the refrigerator. It is recommended that you record the date that Benepali is removed from the refrigerator and the date after which Benepali should be discarded (no more than 4 weeks following the removal from the refrigerator).”

Check out the Frio range. friouk.com

I hope you have arranged a travel letter, saying that you are travelling with medication. Your medication must be in your hand luggage as it may freeze in the hold.

My rheummie no longer issues letters about drugs. He just said to take my last report sent to my GP, which I always get a copy of.

As I understand it you may not be allowed through security with "sharps" without a letter from someone saying that you need them for legitimate medical purposes.

If you have £70 to spare you could look at an iCool Medicube Isothermic Bag which will maintain medicines at 2-8 degrees C for 36 hours. mollymojo.co.uk/icool-medic...

iCool do lots of other products too with varying specifications
