Hi I am new to this site, I have had problems with my hands. I went to hand specialist had all the tests down and steroid shots...she said that not carpal tunnel. She said to see my primary she felt it could be arthritis. Since then now my pinky finger and ring finger are stiff and painful to use constantly and now I have periods where every bone in body hurts.

Very strange because I can 5 days with no pain and than two weeks of complete joint pain. Is that normal for RA.? But one thing is that it is continually getting worse with each week. Have an appointment with rheumatologist for the 16th. They other symptoms are loss of appetite, not being able to sleep and just plain exhaustion. But the RA blood test was negative and x-rays only showed some arthritis in my neck. I also am a type 1 diabetic of 35 years, I am now 57. Any answers would be great.

Hello and welcome. If you go to Related Posts at the top right side of your screen there will be a lot of posts relating to first appointments. I sincerely hope you don't have Rheumatoid Disease but if you have it diagnosed please don't panic. As with all forums the majority of posts will be from those struggling and the scared newbies. The treatments available now are so much better than they used to be but they all take time.

Hi and welcome!

the coming and going of pain sounds very familiar, but it could be something else, so keep up with your appointments, ask lots of questions and I wish you all the best- you’ve come to the right place, lots of lovely souls on here and almost any question you have we can give opinions experiences and advice, and I haven’t found anywhere else like it online for RA, hope you get some answers soon and any medications you may need to reduce your pain. Or as my rhumy nurse says “hopefully this will calm things down for you ” I liked that phrase! X

Quite a few of your symptoms Lilly1862 are also the same symptoms as for low thyroid (hypothyroidism) often illnesses can go hand in hand, idea only - go onto ‘Thyroid Uk’ which is another forum site here on Health Unlocked and post up your question mentioning your bones and joints hurting, loss of appetite, exhaustion, not sleeping etc.. members will help you forward.
