i have been taking methotrexate and hydroxychloroquine for roughly a year now,,but i have no appetite and cannot eat red meat could this be the medication? i asked!doc at last appt but she said as long as im not losing weight not to worry! but it is not nice

I am exactly the same same meds same time and have no appetite but not losing weight nurse dos not seem bothered I used to love choc crisp etc but now I don’t take care x

Funny I’ve found my appetite has changed since Mxt. I still get hungry but I can’t stomach tomatoes which I used to eat lots of and they don’t affect my inflammation and meat, especially red meat. I sometimes cook a nice steak as a treat, then it ends up in the dogs bowl! Weird.

I too take MTX and HCQ.

I take my MTX on a Wed night and have no appetite on Thu and a wee bit of an appetite on Fri. By Sat I am back to normal.

How much HCQ do you take? I use to take 400mg, it has now been reduced to 200mg. When I was on 400mg, I felt a lot better if I split my dose (200 with my breakfast, 200 with my dinner).

What about MTX? I moved from tablet to jab and that helped hugely!

As a food scientist I would say make sure you are getting enough iron if you can no longer stomach red meat.
