Partial wrist fusion

Had a partial fusion done in May this year, ive had nothing but botber and pain since it was done.

I still can't lift even a spoon, nor drive my car with confidence now, can't even write my name.

Seems it's the worst decision I've ever made.

Question is , can it be reversed back to what it was before?

I had a bit arthritis in it nothing major but doctor was very adamant that he wanted to give me the fusion. I'm in constant pain daily and hate the fact i allowed it and want it back to what it was, this would mean getting a bone graft to replace the removed scaphoid.

Does anyone think I'm doing the right thing or does anyone think or reckon it can or cannot be reversed?

Looking for lots of yes's here as don't want to be stuck like this for life, it's very sore and uncomfortable and also my bosses are keeping eyes on me which makes me think i may lose my job on capabilities.

Thanks for reading..

Are you having, or have you had physio? If you have what does the physio say? Further surgery maybe indicated. ....a physio must have seen this situation before ....I'd take some advice & go on from there.

However, you can search out a second surgical opinion. Speak to your GP & ask to be referred to a specialist hand & wrist surgeon. The doctors who advised you to have the surgery will presumably not accept they were wrong to operate....but another surgeon may be able to offer you some further procedure.

I had simple wrist surgery & it did take a while to settle, but in 6 months you shouldn't still be in such pain & difficulty. I do hope you can get it sorted soon.

Thanks, I'm gonna call doctor and ask for a 2nd opinion from a different surgeon.

I'm gonna refuse further surgery unless it's to take plate out and do the scaphoid replacement

Also yes I'm getting physio but tbh the physio is of no help.

A she does is massage the area the ate is on then talks for about 10 minutes.

I have exercises to do at home and work but still not helping me or relieve the pain.

Everyday I'm on paracetamol and heavy painkillers too.

No difference at all.

Very annoyed with myself for getting this done .

Do try to see a specialist hand/wrist surgeon ..I'm sure your GP will know the right person to refer you to.

I know how difficult it is to drive with a malfunctioning painful hand .

Be very firm with your GP.

Good Luck!
