I've now just had a letter today about going for a liver biopsy to see what is definitely going on because I haven't been on proper RD meds for almost 2 years. A lot of my meds have affected my liver, after my weight loss it got worse, not putting it all back in to test the theory. I had a few weeks back on Methotrexate but I suppose it shows my medical teams are communicating which is a good thing really ๐๐๐

Being in limbo is an awful place so it's a good thing your team are so on the ball. I truly hope you don't have too long to wait for a better and effective treatment. Hugs
Hey Ginger46... can you have a fibroscan instead of a biopsy. Thatโs whatโs happens in Australis now. Just wondering. Hope all goes well for you. ๐ค
I've had ultrasound and MRI scans in the last year or so, have a bloods form and an appointment coming up on 5th November, so I'm see what they say then xx
Ok. A fibroscan measures the damage, scarring, fibrosis, etc in your liver. It is such a simple test and non invasive. Guess we have to trust our doctors. Itโs worth asking your doctors about it anyway.
High dose milk thistle is protective of your liver as well, helps it to do its job, Iโve kept well from liver disease for over 40 years and swear by milk thistle every day. All the best. Keep us posted. ๐ผ๐ค
Hello Ginger, I just had a liver biopsy yesterday & it wasn't bad at all. I was asleep for the whole thing so I didn't feel any pain. Now I just have to wait for the results next week sometime. I had to have it for the "cumulative dose" of methotrexate I've been on since being diagnosed in 2016. I also have a family history of liver problems. I really hoping all will turn out well. I wish the same for you!!
Hi all, finally have a date for the liver biopsy, 18th January, hopefully finally will help me find out what's going on and eventually get back on some "much needed" RD meds xx
