Has anyone had their medication put on hold without being informed !! My surgery has not been informed either. As I haven't seen anyone for over 2 years for my RA (No appt.has been sent) . I was told after phoning hah that hospital told them to put my drugs on hold. Surely I should have been informed

I have had a problem in the past with my Rheumy dept not approving the prescription due to the nurse on sick leave. I take it you have blood tests every 3 months. I would contact your hospital and find the reason. All the best. X

I totally agree with you. Very bad management. The stituation with our hospital seems to be very chaotic at times, long wait for the nurses to ring you back. I rang my rheumy's secretary recently, hoping for a quicker response, didn't work, still waiting. A nurse rang regarding my Humira, she wanted to know if I was back on it, my own nurse was informed a month ago!!!! Why wasn't it on my records. Also asked if she could see if the request I had made to the rheumy via the secretary was being dealt with, she didn't know and nothing again on my records. We just can't assume all is well. I hope you are at back on your meds. Stay well. X

Sounds as if u are having similar problems to myself.it really isn't good enough. I finally managed to get a prescription due Tues.and appt. for 1/11 after many many phone calls/emails and being passed from one secretary/nurse to another. Do hope you are coping with your RA..keep smiling x

So frustrating. Pleased to hear you have an appointment and of course your meds. Not without great effort on your part. Humira has been a great drug for me and keeps my RD in check. The trouble is having other health issues and having to take a break from it for fairly long periods in the last 3 years isn't ideal. Fortunately I'm a very positive person so get on with it. Good luck with your appointment and stay well. X

When I went to collect my monthly prescription (all from GP not Rheumy)

I was told as I hadn't had any meds since February......they had been stopped ...no info as to why or who authorised this. The pharmacy is in the GP surgery.

Luckily I'm a hoarder & just throw my scrips into a folder ...don't ask why!

So back I went with every scrip stamped "collected"...... funny looks all round, eyes rolling......& suddenly my pills were dispensed.

These days I can't be bothered to argue/investigate......I just collected the pills & left.

Mistakes do happen! All my RA medication was stopped after I had had a 'medication review' by a GP. When I went to the on-site pharmacist, she just rolled her eyes, sighed, and trotted off to get them renewed by another GP! Apparently he had deleted the authorisation rather than renewing it.

Yes that's a possibility........IT is not that brilliant at my surgery!

If you've not had an appointment for 2 years that could well be the reason they've been stopped. I imagine that there has been an almighty glitch about contacting you. It could well be an ethical issue that the doctors can't issue prescriptions for biologics & methotrexate unless the patient is reviewed in person.

Presumably with the drugs you are on you are having regular blood tests? Which have presumably been fine? So no red flags raised to make people think about you....

But have you never tried to get an appointment in 2 years?

Thanx for reply..no need for appt.as I was coping ok on drugs after many years of trying diff.ones. I still say I should have been informed if drugs were put on hold. No one from hospital will own up!!!

Even if you are coping ok, these are strong drugs so they should check up on you! No excuses, the hospital was at fault for not keepimg am eye on you & should apologise...
