Oh what a beautiful animal. What breed is she? I'm sure after she's over the baby phase you'll have a true companion. She will also focus your mind on something else. You won't have time to think about RA. Good luck with her.
Thanks. She is a shiba Inu. Once she is settled in I am sure I will spend a lot of time with training her and going on adventures 😀so yeah plenty of things to take my mind of the joints hurting 😀
She's beautiful Marie! What have you named her? You'll get used to walkies, just begin training her to walk to heel as soon as she's showing she's understanding commands, it will make things much easier for you & make what could be a battle a pleasurable regular exercise.
We have a Freya! Nearly the same. She's the one in my profile pic, a Pointer/Lab first cross, I suppose there's a fancy name now but mum was a Pointer, dad a Lab. Your Freja shouldn't be too strong thinking of pulling on the lead but anyway it's good to have control when it comes time to socialise with other dogs. You'll enjoy her & her you I'm sure.
Same name actually. I am from Denmark so Freja is just our way of spelling it 😀
She should only weigh around 9-10kg when all grown but I still want her to walk nicely. Think it is important for all dogs. And also down the road my hands may get worse, so won’t risk having a dog who is always pulling the leash
Have a look to see if there any puppy school classes near you. A great way to make sure you have a sociable dog, and also introduces you to a group of people who may be willing to help out with dog sitting/walking if you need it in the future.
Our dog still goes to school (at 5 years old!) because he shows every sign of enjoying it. He is in the senior class now, and although he doesn't learn any new stuff I think it's helpful to reinforce the training regularly.
Sure will keep you all updated. Before I got her i was kind of dreading if i could manage it. Now I am convinced it is worth fighting through the bad days
Hey you got one! What s beaut. Looks like s fox. Enjoy. Xxx
Congratulations! I am green with envy...or at least wishing I were in a position just now to have a furry companion again. I had Japanese Akitas (a series of 4) over a period of 25 years. Shiba Inus are wonderful dogs with a great bond of love and loyalty. Wishing you all the best with your new companion!
Congratulations. My little dog makes life worth living and never minds when I'm having a crippled or moany day. We have continued with dog training for 3 yrs now. I've made great friends and he enjoys the socialization. I hope it makes up for only having only short walks. Enjoy little Freja x
