Anything to help you cope better at home. I have three steps up to my front door & they've fitted a hand rail. They may look at things like when you wash up, prepare food & cooking or iron (if you do, these are just examples) instances where a perching stool would be helpful perhaps, I have two, one in the kitchen & one I keep in the hall so it can be taken into any one of three rooms. They may check how you manage washing, they may supply handles in your shower/bath, if you struggle or at risk of falling. If you need a step up to get in & out of your bath that may be provided, or a stool for sitting when showering, either fitted to the shower wall or not. If you have stairs & find just the one handrail inadequate they'll arrange for another handrail on the wall opposite to be fitted. Lots of things. It might help if you note down what you'd find helpful before they visit though they may just walk round your home with you & noting what they could help you with.

Ok thanks for that, still trying to find my way around this system. Now a central heating system could be nice in the winter and an extension on my bathroom. Stair railing l has already been fitted by a local tradesman. It is just that I could not see the point when the cottage is up for sale

I take it they're aware you're moving? If so it's pretty pointless if you're likely to get a quick sale but if not, well any adaptations would be helpful, until you do move. Whether it would appeal to buyers, well that's dependant on the buyer. I think your have to apply for a disabled facilities grant for central heating, I don't think OT run to that.

Not easy getting around to light it in winter, property has a nice offer just in a chain. Strange as they are aware of me moving

Sorry, don't understand. What do you mean by not easy getting around to light it in winter?

My log burner as it runs the heating system, it is a pain with insurance company.

Oh, I see. Well, something you can mention I suppose as it's a difficulty for you but I'm not sure they'll be able to help there. Good luck anyway for when they come to see you.

That's because of the thatch of if you could stay oil or lpg better option in house with ra and not an ideal option I'm afraid for where is the one overseas?

Just a little worried in case they say I cannot cope with my daughter at home as she is just seven, I manage with help of friends but don’t want it to lead to child services that is all. Now a taxi to and from school ever day as it is five miles each way but I would never ask

How does your daughter get to school now?

• in reply toCheylann

I have a friend staying taking her daily

No other kids here close and no school but, this is Devon. The school in in a small town about a ten minute drive, don’t even have speed cameras here, but we should as the tractors and funnily enough old people speed like mad

Seriously when the locals here reach 65 + they drive like maniacs just point and o

Put foot, they seldom give way or reverse on single track roads. I have two cars had to swap the Audi all road for a A3 5 door daddy cool car and my Audi Spyder is just too wide if I could drive it on these trails

This village has a 20 mph speed limit but it is more like 45 from tractors and older people 65 or more

Nice car to have on motorbility. I think I mentioned what I drive or rather now resigned to being a passenger in my own vehicles love my cars.. my consultant says that I can drive again in another two months and my gp did not report me as medication induced.

I found the OT I saw helpful. Simple things like using a chip pan basket in the potato and veg pot so I dont lift the pot water and whats inside. Just the contents this simple little thing has made cooking less of a trauma. She also showed me various tools I could purchase to help with domestic chores.

Brilliant idea

A few months ago I picked up an older man drunk in the ditch on his electric scooter by my place, he still had half a bottle in his basket

All happens here

Often a quad bike passes with three collies balancing

Outside ramp, adapted wet room, extra bannister, grab rails and toilet surround to hold on to for raising/sitting. Oh, I also have a bed rail.

I am concerned that I am fast loosing the use of my hands and they are starting to curl, I think I have had my share of ills recently to last a life time. I was offered a brilliant job starting in September overseas. How life changers but we adapt.

My biggest problem in all of this is to be able to hold my daughter and lift her without being in pain

I do not know how many times I have to correct my posts as so many mistakes, the fingers do not go where I need them to be

Hi Depending on your phone Have you tried to use the voice record function. If your phone has the microphone sign on the keyboard you have the facility. Good luck I have to correct the words sometimes but it’s so much easier.
