I have OA, & recently had blood test which showed seriously low B12 deficiency, my GP said that 'he'd never seen a patient with such low results before'. Had 6 shots of B12 over 2wks, & now have to take every 3mnths.

I'm a vegetarian, have been for nearly 40yrs, so always been eating healthy meals. So yeah, it baffles me too. 😕

Hi, vegetarians will mostly be deficient in B vitamins, especially B 12. So supplement is a must. In fact, my vertigo was gone, once I started B 12 supplement. I take it regularly, tablet, nowadays, since I find the shots painful. Taking orally has its disadvantages, though, as we don't know how well we absorb it. Shots are a better way of getting B12 in the system. And boy ! are the effects felt almost instantaneously !! 😉

Hope you are feeling better soon lovely do you think it made your oa worse..looking back .now you are on the mend xx

It made me more fatigued that's for sure. I'd come home from work, collapse on the sofa & crash out for a few hrs. Haven't done that for the past few wks, but as I mentioned before, it's starting to creep up on me again.

The nurse did say to me 'you'll know when you're going to need another shot, because you'll feel it!'

Hi Keeta, I too had very low Vit B 12 deficiency. Don't know whether RA is caused, among other things, due to vit B deficiency. But Vit B is VITAL for our body to function effectively. Please see my post on vit B 12 deficiency, and how serious health problems occur because doctors don't even realise that vit B could be the cause.

So interesting didn.t realise how important b12 is .

Can.t believe what it can do and how easily they miss it .

Thank you so much ..maybe thats why my RD And OA are so bad at moment .food for thought .

Hope everyone reads it .thanx again kathy xx

I may be wrong but I seem to remember hearing that my meds (methotrexate) could make me anemic. I think that’s part of why taking Folic Acid and Biotin everyday is important. Anyone else heard that?

Please read padram.s post .it tells yoy how folic acid can mask low b12.and yes when i was on mtx i remember being told that we take folic acid because mtx depleats iron xx
