Have you been tested as they should give you injections/tablets if you are low?

Will do. I do have a low count for a number tests. GP classes them as expected. Think I am going to ask for a phone appointment to get some idea of why they expect this. Thank you KittyJ

One of my blood tests came back as low B12 about 6 years ago, and I now have injections every 8 weeks.

Ask your rheumy team if you need them….that will solve your problem.

Rheumy department have passed a number of actions over to the GP. I can but ask!

I have B12 injections every 3 months as a blood test ( requested by rheumy) showed my levels were low. As others have suggested - ask to be tested.

Don’t buy over the counter but ask your GP for it on prescription if you need it. In the shops it’s a foodstuff not a medication so nowhere near a therapeutic dose. I have injections as well. It makes a real difference.

Thanks medway-lady, will do when she comes back from holiday. Receptionist told me that the GP who has been dealing with me, hasn't shared it with the others in the practice at their meetings.

I take a sublingual one, my rheumatologist suggested I take it. PPIs reduce your absorption of B vitamins, so I found tablets weren’t effective, I take a high strength one from Holland & Barrett. I had my levels tested when I was using tablets and it was at the bottom of range. I then changed to sublingual, and when retested it was above the top end of range. So I take 1/2 dose now, which keeps it in range,

Hi. I always take it in the liquid form as it is absorbed better and less harmful to the liver and kidneys. I get mine from Holland and Barrett as I do the liquid vitamin D3 which also helps with my inflammation. Xx

I take PPIs and was at the low end of normal when tested a couple of years ago. My GP told me get high strength B12 tablets over the counter as they would be stronger than the ones she could prescribe!I take a 1000 ug slow release Holland & Barrett B12 daily and I'm now well into the normal range.

I've just had a course of 6 injections in 13 days as my vitb12 was really low to the point of breathless and immobile. I feel so much better. They are going to test again in 12 weeks to see if I need tablets or regular injections. Just as those above have said I would not buy them. All the best.

Hi, Are you experiencing any symptoms? I had memory problems and wondered if I was getting Alzheimer's. Thyroxin helped (along with reducing a goitre and weight). However, given that my B12 was at the bottom of the range, I tried B12 from Holland & Barratt and this helped the memory a lot. A further test showed it at the very top of the range a year later so I stopped it for a while. I had further memory issues so have now started it again and my memory has improved again.

Yes I have and did worry if anything was wrong. I know at one point I asked for a blood check, just can't remember what it was for. Will have a look back. Thank you Delicatelnput
