A wrote previously about taking sulpha and Kerena asked me to update with what came next.
I struggled with it for 12 weeks, attempting a few times to get above taking 2 with omeprozole ( to help with the acid ) thrown in but it did not get any easier and the Omeprozole made very little difference. It seemed to make me feel very low as well as no improvement with the RA joints and the side effects I mentioned previously.
I saw my rheumatologist this week and she said I should stop taking it NOW...A great relief. Her suggestion is to start Benapali after chest XRAY result and blood tests are cleared, which I did not expect so soon. I didn't think I had done my time on DMARDS yet; only a year..but it feels hopeful and I am uplifted to be done with the dreaded yellow bullets every day .
( But Kerena it could be totally different for you if you were to give them a go. I am fine with MTX and read, here, about others who have a horrible time with that )

Hi Roseyx - sorry I think I omitted to reply to you. I find the Benepali somewhat okay - well certainly better than the mtx. As said my consultant wants me to combine both but just can’t stomach the mtx to be honest. My ankle is still somewhat tender and iffy, due to the damage and RA but I can walk. I have good days and not so good, such is the nature of this disease. Mainly good to be honest as I remain both positive and thankful. The only other point with this biologic is the day I inject my ankle seems to feel tender and awkward! I shall speak to the team about that. That’s my journey to date..... hope you are doing well. 😊
I have lost quite a lot of my hair but that has slowed right down after a year of MTX. Really disturbing at first I don't mind too much any more because at least it doesn't hurt
I’m also on methotrexate and sulfasalazine and I went through the low stage but my nurse told me to keep going after about two months or so of crying for no reason feeling so low it’s hard to put into words.
I seem fine now. Don’t think losing my hair was helping. I had long thick hair still got long hair only now thin.
I did a post on it and it’s one of the side affects for most ppl.
Thanks for your reply. I am glad you are feeling better on those drugs now. I probably would have persevered if I had had to make the decision but was happy to accept the Rheumatologist telling me to stop the sulpha.
