I have just started using Systane Ultra, and Blink for Contacts, as I refuse to give up my contact lenses and both these are suitable for use with them. They do soothe but I have to reapply throughout the day. My GP also prescribed Hypromellose, which I found stings a little at times. I think this is when I have scratched the surface of my eye with debris under my contact lens, so my own fault I guess, for not giving up my contacts! I have to wait 15 minutes after use before I can wear my c/lenses with this one. However, if you don't wear c/lenses, it's not a prob. They all seem about the same to me - none is any better than another.

I was prescribed Systane Balance 3 times a day and Artelac Nightime gel before bed, 2 years ago for RA induced dry eyes, they work well for me. I had a failed cataract op last year and was left without a lens for 2 months, they were able to put one at the back of my eye. This was due to having glaucoma, I still have to use extra glaucoma drops for that eye to control the pressure, these drops although preservative free, cause irritation, so am grateful to the aforementioned drops. I have Sjorgrens syndrome, and the opthalmogy clinic prescribed Hylo forte which is excellent, and lacrilube at night. Would advise anyone with dry eyes to get tested for Sjorgrens....often a partner to RD...another autoimmune disease.

I raised possible Sjogrens symptoms with Rheumy at routine appointment on Wednesday. A quick 5 minute blotting paper test on my eyes showed they were very, very dry and that, along with other possible symptoms, means I'm to have further testing for Sjorgrens Syndrome. Be interesting to see if that is the case, it would explains some symptoms I've had for years before developing RA.

Hyloforte in the day time and Xailin night gel at night for me as recommended by ophthalmologist who also says you can’t over use the hyloforte and it’s common for patients to under use it
