Hi - Mybdaughter was recently diagnosed with AS. She has been approved for Humira and she received the medication already. She will do her first injection tonight. What can she expect for the next few days? She has been in pain for so long now - almost 16 yrs that we can trace her symptoms back to, without realizing it was RA. Will she have diminished pain? She is 42 yrs old now.
First injection of Humira: Hi - Mybdaughter was... - NRAS
First injection of Humira
In the next few days? Not a lot I expect. I hope that she is as lucky as I was and responds within 2-3 weeks like I did. My pain/swelling and anaemia all cleared by that time. The nurse had said 2-3 months but luckily she was way out! It stings a bit if injected cold by the way.
Usually, it can take up to 12 weeks to notice any difference. However, there are those that report feeling better after the first couple of injections.
Letting it come to room temp, dies lessen the sting and personally, injecting in the tummy is less painful than injecting in the thigh.
Wishing your daughter all the best going forward.
Marie
Okay - TY! She will do this tonight when she gets home from work.
I leave it out for an hour, room temp is better and I also use an ice pack to numb the area I’m going stick and I’ve had much less pain doing it this way.
Best of luck
I leave it out overnight as advised by nurse and inject either side on the belly button about three finger space away. Only took a few weeks to notice the effects but now almost pain free
TY All for your responses. She did her first injection last night and all went well. You all took the mystery out of it for us.
i can't really help. I chose Enbrel over Humira. When I tried Humira because of eye problems I started having pain in my joints. Even after 2 months not better. i took an Enbrel shot left from previous use. After only 2 days on Enbrel I got better. Enbrel helps me much better than Humira but that's just me. Others have had better results with Humira. I hope you do well with Humira.
