Lotus Position - Update after 4 months trying

I set a target to continue the lotus position so that I will be more flexible to put my legs higher up. After 4 months, where I checked again this morning, it has not much improvement though physically I find it easier to do the same.

Very disappointed indeed but do I have to give up? NO, because I know it takes a long time to see the benefits of just any exercise on us. I will continue the daily exercise and I strongly believe I will be able to do it better. At least the current achievement is I can do it easier, where no one can see but I can feel it.

It has been a long time since I have been away from this site. I have been very busy going round to conduct training for the past many months. This will go on until after the general election of our country. I am back to my normal self since long ago. I am going back to be one of the volunteers to help the opposition to conduct the polling and counting agents training in our country. Our oppositions have no fund to do their own training and our election committees are not doing their job, so the public like me take up the duties and proceed to do our part because we want to see improvement and a more transparent system in our country. Feeling great to be able to do that again after the last election.

Although I have been doing yoga regularly since 1974, I cannot get into the lotus position. Nor have I been able to for several years now. I find that I have to adapt my yoga practice depending on how stiff and painful my joints are and I have a three level practice schedule designed together with a yoga practitioner who specialises in helping people with illness and disabilities. Yoga is about going with your body.

Dear Oldtimer,

We have to look into our own condition. If our body allows us to do so, then we can proceed else just slow down and listen to our own body. However, I do personally find it helpful to progress when I do the little extra. That allows me to go the extra mile to improve my flexibility eventually.

Do not rush into it, always listen to your body. Lotus position is very much depend on our flexibility and it is very hard to achieve though.

Well done Amy Lee- your resilience and determination will, I’m sure, get you to where you wish to be.

Dear Marie,

I always believe no one can help us to be back to where we are except ourselves. I do agree family members and friends can provide us with the support during our suffering but then if we want our body to recover, only ourselves can do it and no one else can help us. Therefore, I CANNOT GIVE UP for the simple reason of a better life.

My intention is to let many other new RA patients know that it is possible for us to have a normal life again if we work on it.
