I thought I was doing reasonably well 5mg prednisolone but had some nausea with it, then all of a sudden pain crept up on me so I thought ok off I go to my docs who's a dear and got a shot of depomedrone, which hasn't worked to the edge off my hip pain but my fingers wrists neck and shoulders so painful. Nothing I can do 'cos I can only take paracetamol. Have to wait till March to be counselled about this group of drugs JAK. Sorry just thought I'd have a moan

Don't worry about moaning get it off your chest, there's nothing worse than being in pain, can you not ring the helpline at your hospital to see if they can do something before your appointment in March, hope thinks improve xxx

I'm so sorry you're having such a bad time, vivigibbs. We all need to vent from time to time when things get bad. Who else would understand so well? Hugs

I used to feel so down when I was in pain that I would ring the Samaritans line! They were wonderful. I do hope you get relief soon. Kind regards, Rosie

Not sure how to answer this. All that pain and just Paracetamol. I have been in a lot of pain and even Dihydrocodeine + Paracetamol just takes the edge off.

Like you my hips, lower back and shoulders are worse, now into my legs.

My doctor did bloods and they came back .

[[Rheum arthritis screening test22.5 IU/ml Abnormal result

Total white cell count3.96 10*9/l Abnormal result

Total 25-hydroxyvitamin D levl37 nmol/L Abnormal result..........................]]]

Which points to Polymyalgia rheumatica or Rheumatoid arthritis. I will know a week tomorrow.

This is on top Osteoarthritis in hip and neck.cervical spine degeneration.

I always thought Steroids would be the answer but reading your post, not sure alone they would work..

Never mind about moaning, I have been going to moan about my worsening pain, people on here are always kind and never Judge people for pouring out what they think.

Hope you get some decent help soon and let us know how you get on and what you get, I will for sure be interested...Good luck.

I am sensitive to and bad reactions to all the rheumatoid meds can only take paracetamol and steroids that is the problem I am pinning my hopes on this new thing I just want to do normal things. Even texting is hurting me ☹

So sorry you are in such pain, it's horrible and affects every part of your life. I was diagnosed with RA and fybromyalgia 14 months ago and being unable to tolerate dmards was put on steroids to try to control the symptoms until something that worked came along. I can only say that I loved the steroids, hated the weight gain and moon face, but they really controlled my pain, along with codeine, and amitriptiline for the fybro. Have been off steroids for 8 months, the only time I had problems with nausea was in tapering down. Please don't just accept the pain, keep going back until they find something that works. I am taking humira which really helps. Why can you only have paracetamol, I'm lucky to have a brilliant GP who understands the disease could your GP not help with pain relief until you can see your clinician. I hope things improve for you soon, but until then vent away, that's what we're here for, to support each other. Sending you warmth and hugs, and hope you feel better soon.

Am sensitive or really bad reactions to most medication walk sideways and can't see straight with strong painkillers so yeah get very nervous when trying anything new I haven't refused to try anything, but nothing yet that works. Incidentally I have lost weight nobody seems to know why, currently 48kg 'bout 7 stone 9 lb and that's on steroids

Oh dear, you really are going through it, I'm really feel for you, I know how awful that pain can be, in fact I broke my ankle at the end of Nov and the paramedic could not believe my tolerance to the pain until I told him I had RA and fybromyalgia then he understood! I really think you should try pushing your GP he should be doing more, how awful to not be able to take painkillers, you could try for a referral to a pain clinic? Wish I could do more to help you, hope things improve soon. Please feel free to vent anytime, we all understand on here because we've been through it.
