Occasional nose bleeds are very common whether we are on medication or not. I hope you are having your regular checks for your cardiovascular health while on methotrexate anyway?

But the commonest cause is the inside of the nose getting dried out and chapped. Using some cream regularly (Vaseline is popular but doesn't suit everyone) often helps.

You are so right...I had three massive nose bleeds three days in a row a couple of weeks Ago...got carted off to a& e by ambulance because I couldn't stop the third one after an hour....barroom looked like an abattoir!

On RTX not Mtx....rheumy said no connection.

A&E Doc had no other explanation......no polyps or other nasties....it just bled!

Vaseline in every handbag now!

Thanks Yes I have a blood test every 2 months to check all things So far all is going well. Bring up about the nose bleeds and my Rheumy and gp just seem to push it aside

Hi SylviaMA, I have been taking Plaquenil for just over thirteen years and now with the addition of Rituxin infusions. Never had a nose bleed in my life until around a year ago (now aged 55) when I started getting them maybe once a month, I did wonder if it was hormonal. Mine often started as I was waking up on a morning in bed, I could sense it whilst still lying down so often caught it before any mess. Quick three minutes and all over with, but blood very thin. Stopped again maybe after six months. I don't have great blood pressure but at a regular 170/86 the doctors don't seem overly concerned apart from the occasional 24 hr monitor.

Hooe your nosebleeds stop soon, but mention it to your GP.

Thanks Juneann yeah mine are mostly when getting up to but occasionally other times. Doesn’t happen constantly but it seemed to stop for about 6-7 months and now it’s started again. Strange !!

It's a recent thing but I'm waking up in the morning to find I've had a little nosebleed in the night. Nothing major but irritating. I'll mention it at next rheumy visit and let people know. It's probably just one of those things.
